    ^This. I used nothing but those Fram "orange cans" on my S-10 Blazer. 321,000 miles on the Blazer when I finally decided to buy a different vehicle. Engine was still going strong...but the body was falling apart.

    I spent the equivalent of $16k, and I suspect rust will ultimately take it after a few years, if it doesn't get totaled on the highway first. A good-enough oil filter that saves me a buck is good enough.

    Always change your oil filter, when changing the oil. It doesn't matter what material it's made of. It is designed to filter contaminants and will clog. Synthetic oils don't oxidize and go bad like dyno oils do, so they can last quite a long time between intervals.

    I’m in the OEM filters and 5k intervals club.

    I still use OE Toyota filters on my ‘02 IS300 with 245k on it.
