Someone had asked so here's a side-by-side comparison of MGM (my wife's SR5) and Underground (my SR5P I picked up today :santa2:).

    Direct sunlight:

    At night in the garage:

Those pictures are pretty awful overall, but I can say Underground is fantastic. I was kind of on the fence on this color until I saw it in person. Straight medium grey in sunlight, but almost black at night. In the shade during the day there is a definite blueish tint to it. For being a non-metallic paint, it changes quite drastically depending on the lighting.

Looks pretty sweet! I can’t tell which I like more. I feel like the MGM might hold up better long-term with detailing (won’t dull out as quickly or show spiderweb scratches as much), but gotta love the Underground for what it is. Both great options!

I have the 2024 Pro in Underground... traded my 2022 Army Green 4Runner ORP and don't regret it all. This color is like Cement and MGM had a baby...as someone else has said.

I have a TRD Pro in underground as well. I recently put PPF on the front and ceramic coated it. It really makes the underground color pop. Really happy I waited for the underground instead of pulling the trigger on the MGM.

Can I ask where you took your vehicle for PPF and Ceramic Coat? And what it cost you?

I’m taking mine to local Tint World in a week for full PPF on the front, ceramic coating, and tint all the way around. Cost was 2,000 for the PPF, 700 for the ceramic coating, and 950 for tinting the whole vehicle to include the whole front windshield. They use Gyeon for their ceramic products which are very well thought of by most.

got quotes from 2 other places and they were both significantly higher. One was 5500 for all and the other was 6200.

I'm getting quotes in that range too. I may at least get ceramic coating... thank you for this information.

I will post up some pictures once I get it done. That PPF cost is for the whole front bumper, whole hood, and full finders and A pillars.

I got full front (Front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, head lights) with Xpel and fully ceramic coated the car with Xpel. Total cost was ~$4000, which was the going rate where I'm located (NY). I got the PPF because of the poor paint quality that Toyota has been known for. Trying to avoid the inevitable rock ships as this is my daily driver.

Are there any noticeable seams with PPF? Are you happy with it? TIA

The place I went to did a fantastic job. You can't tell that there's PPF on it unless you come up really close and even then, it's tough to tell. There is one tiny seam (I'd guess 2mm at most), however it's tucked into a crevice and unnoticeable. I only found it because I'm overly neurotic. The ceramic is amazing. The paint looks better now than when I picked up the car. It's already rained a few days since I've had the coating and the water simply beads up and flies off the car while I'm driving.

The important thing to ask your installer is whether they tuck the seems or use the pre cut kits. Most I have talked to extend the edges and tuck them. It’s nothing like the Toyota PPF which is quite honestly awful.

Mine finally showed! Super happy with it so far. After reading hours and hours of forum posts about how bad the JBL stereo, and TRD exhaust were, I was a little nervous about it. I kind of like both of them! Honestly it’s better than the other vehicles I own. Really liking the old “new” tech actually. Window tint coming shortly!

I agree. Having the same 4runner, I love the stereo. It sounds so much better than the premium sound system in the ORP. And the exhaust, I like that too. It's all personal preference anyway.

My 2012 FJ had a very nice system from Toyota W/Sub woofer in it. This has that & I believe 16 speakers. I know you can get a much better system, but for me it rocks just fine & better then my 2918 TRD OR!

Add me to the approves list of the TRD exhaust and the JBL sound. Was extremely happy with both.

Here’s a direct comparison between MGM and Underground. MGM limited on the left vs Underground Pro on the right.

I saw an underground in person today at a Toyota dealership. I can say the photos here in this thread do it justice. It’s personally not for me, I prefer MGM.

Yeah I like MGM better myself also. I saw an Underground ORP in person. It’s nice but I think MGM is just more classic and more of a timeless color.
