Know what grinds my gears? Home Depot truck came through the culdesac to make a pickup at the neighbor's house and destroyed my mailbox.

I've spent over an hour and a half on the phone with different people trying to get a report started so they can reimburse me - I still don't think there is a report yet because I don't have the order number and apparently that's the only way anyone can look something up in their system (although I know the manager of the store was able to find it because he supposedly sent an email to corporate to get the case started).

It only took me two hours and a new $60 mailbox to fix it all. I'm debating now if I just let it go or dig my heels in and make them pay. It's going to cost them more in overhead creating a report and filing a claim than to just offer me a gift card for my trouble.

I wouldn't care if I hadn't just replaced the damn thing last year because a neighbor hit it. Told my wife if it gets damaged again I'm going to build a giant pillar of concrete and rebar so the next person that hits it has to fix their shit

I remember once upon a time, friday afternoon, oversized load, extra width dozer blade, turning on a gravel intersection, not paying attention, getting over to the side of the road probably a little early to make the turn, and 2 mailboxes, both wood posts went down. I got lucky on 1 of them, no damage but the other was junk! Both people said, "looks like we have a mailbox to fix, we'll see you tomorrow morning... unless you want to pay to have someone else replace them." There I was saturday morning fixing mailboxes, the one person said they bought the mailbox so all I had to do was put in a new post at no charge to me, just had to supply the 'labor'. Seeing how you bought a mailbox, it would have been nice to get a little help in return.

You know what would also really clog up my intake?

In-engine wet-belts, please let that trend die. It seems to be popping up more in the American-make engines.

For anyone interested, after spending 1.5+ hours on the phone with generic home depot corporate help lines (who really tried to help but needed the order number I didn't have) and talking to the store manager who dispatched the truck and said they sent an email to corporate... I never heard back. I replaced the mailbox and had it all fixed within a couple of hours. I've spent more time (time is money) trying to get a case started or responded to than it cost me to fix. Wish I hadn't contacted them at all and wasted all that time. Was hoping they would just throw me a gift card for my trouble but apparently they have as much red tape and hoops to jump through as gov't

Yeah, unfortunately I bought the original mailbox on Amazon so replaced it the same way.

I could always drive to the store to bitch and complain but not worth it to me (1 hour there, plus bitching time, plus 1 hour back). Would probably pay for the milwaukee chainsaw I bought from them though on black Friday sale.

As I get older, I just find fewer hills to die on

And their cousins that drive right beside them at the same speed in the slow lane, so we can't get around either of them, neither one will slow down or speed up!!

I bet this one has been brought up, maybe not. I drive a quad axle dump truck, it has really good power (485 h.p.) so even with a load (our gross weight is 73K) it can get up to speed fairly quick. So, driving on mostly 2 lane highways, people have to continually tailgate, or get around the "slow" trucks. We travel between 57-60 mph, but still the smaller vehicles want to get around us, that's fine. Then with all the crossroads we have, the driver that just went around you, puts on their turn signal after they slow up and there is oncoming traffic, forcing us to sometimes come to a complete stop. 41 years of driving truck, and cars/pick-ups/s.u.v's aren't a truck drivers enemy, now days it's usually another truck.

There’s been more than a few times where I’ve encountered one of these dump trucks turning onto a main country road up ahead of me, and I get ready to pass them up. Because I’m assuming they’re gonna be a rock spitting road block for the rest of my commute.

Then before I know it, they scoot right up to, and past 55mph! Alrighty then! Those things can move! :D

Here where I live there's lots of construction, so there's lots of dump trucks...there are also 2 different kind of dump truck drivers...those that get paid by the hour and those that get paid by the load, I pass the ones getting paid by the hour all the time when possible because they always drive 5 to 10 MPH under the speed limit, the ones that get paid by the load...I get out of their way and let them go, they won't be in front of you for long...they get down the road!!!

I'd be much more interested in the torque rating. 485 hp with a GVWR of 73K lbs is not even a little bit impressive. That would be like a 5th generation 4runner with 42hp, and people consider them underpowered with 270hp.

I'm betting they make well over 1000 lb/ft of torque, though, which is really the spec that matters.

Regarding commercial vehicles, I've noticed a trend of people in dump-trucks, box vans, and even semis driving way too aggressively. Of course, there are people in all sorts of vehicles doing the same. But, it seems much more reckless when you're driving a larger, heavier vehicle. Maybe paying by the mile, or load isn't such a good idea with regards to safety.

Thank you! She's doing OK. Her problems were self inflicted, but she has made the necessary changes to get better. I still visit and enjoy her company, and it's nice to see the dog, too!

Pictures of the dog and cat for grins. They're both hilarious.

I have a fat cat who likes to look all playful like that! Then when you try to pet her she bites and scratches. Is yours naughty or nice?

He purrs when I pick him up. Sometimes he bites when you pet him, but in a playful manner.

Torque of the engine is 1800+lb/ft. Some are rated @ 2000lb/ft. and any of these engines are capable of moving a load in a decent fashion!

Basically larger vehicles.. Some people that drive "commercial vehicles" have not figured out that they are harder to stop, need more room to get around, don't accelerate, or have anywhere near the agility of a car/pickup. I was a paid by the mile driver years ago, that was over the road driving. There are some places where drivers in dump trucks are paid by the load. I get paid by the hour, it doesn't mean I lolly-gag down the road, I have a job to do also. What I would like to see is car/pickup/suv drivers have a little more driving courtesy to each and other and don't "screw" with those "larger vehicles." Some people intentionally screw with trucks, why? I've seen accidents with commercial vehicles/cars/suv/pickups, it usually doesn't turn out well for the smaller vehicles.. Let's be safe out there!

Mine doesn't bite in a playful manner unless she misses... she was an adopted street cat. You can take the cat off the street but you can't take the street outta the cat
