Yesterday I was driving home from Fort Worth and scrolled down to check my current average MPG and to my surprise it was blank. I did check it on the way to Fort Worth and it was working as expected.

2023 TRDORP just a little under 7K miles on the clock.

BTW, all other functions in the Multi-Information Display (M-ID) works just fine.

Looks like it quit working on both mine and my wife's....Software update gone wrong?????????? or what, very confusing. Weird!

Where I talking about on M-ID is the next click down from the Coffee Cup (Sway Warning).

    Any ideas?

I've been clicking down from day 1.

Normally the M-ID is on the digital speedometer, and if I want to see the current MPG only I have to click down twice from the digital speedometer.

I know where your talking about for the current MPG, MPH, and Miles it's at the very top of the M-ID.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

It doesn't matter if he scrolls up or down, eventually, he will see the MPG average and DTE.

I do this too, I scroll down after I see the coffee cup, and BAM, I see MPG average. I have never heard of that display going out and wouldn't know how to fix it. Has it happened again after you stopped/restarted the 4Runner?

Yes, after restarting still the same way. It's happened on both mine and my wife's 2023 TRDORP.....that's whats really weird.

Im wondering if disconnecting the battery will reset things?

Totally random and a real head scratcher. I'd do this: Pull the battery cables, then press the horn for up to 30 seconds (This will reset any error codes, lights, etc). It won't damage anything, but if you have any radio pre-sets, you may lose those.

Then reconnect the battery, start the truck back up and see if it re-appears. If it does, great. You're welcome. If it doesn't....we never had this conversation! :)

I have a ‘22 ORP, and the last screen has been blank since the day I got it. According to the owners manual the top screen is After Start, then After Reset, and then the following. The only way I’ve ever been able to see current MPG is in the After Reset screen where it shows a visual compared to the average on the little bar chart at the top.

@Ripmo is correct. There is a blank screen if you want to not have any info displayed. Just keep scrolling.

These information display is configurable on my 18 highlander, to add which data you want to display. Maybe you can add info to that screen on the 4runner as well? I haven’t played around with trying on my 4runner, so I’m not sure.

Please let us know how you make out. I’m curious but I could swear you are on that last screen where it’s always blank.

I see this in my Manual as well, it was working however. Im hoping "Borrach Loco" will post a picture of the screen of the "Current MPG" which is the last page in the MID. Crazy-ness.

Can you post a picture of the "Current MPG" so others can see what we see?

Sure, this isn't a recent photo, it was from last week when I was testing something....

Normally, it would show how many miles I had until I hit zero.

Thank you. That's not the same on my screen. I don't believe your photo is on the last page of the MID which is after the Coffee Cup?

Give me a few minutes and I'll take a picture of all the screens and post them.

Edit. Okay, here are all the screens. The very last screen, is a custom screen that the driver needs to set themselves. I've never set it. That is why it is blank.

I started at the very top and took a picture of each screen, in order, going down.

According to the owners manual - and what is in the owners manual matches what I can see in my multi-information display, under Drive Information. There is an "After Start" info screen that shows average MPG, average speed in MPH, and elapsed time - all calculated after the engine was started. There is also an "After Reset" info screen that shows average MPG, average speed in MPH, and elapsed time - all calculated since the function was reset (you reset this function by pressing and holding the button in the center of the meter control switches). There is also a "After Refuel" info screen that shows driving range with remaining fuel in miles, and average MPG - all calculated after the last refueling. There are no other info screens that show average MPG. However, under Drive Information on the multi-information display there is a blank screen you can select if you do not want any information at all to display. OP - are you saying that you can't display all three of these info screens that show average MPG data - and that you have a second blank info screen?

The Coffee Cup is the vehicle sway warning screen - it is between the speed display and the blank (display off) screen.

I can confirm that the photos that Borracho Loco posted match exactly with what is in the owners manual - and in exactly the same order. It also matches exactly to what I can see in my 4Runner. Though the owners manual does say that the last screen is a blank screen you can select if you want no information displayed - it doesn't say anything about it being customizable. The top three screens are the only ones that show average MPG - though they are all calculated differently. The blank screen is there intentionally so you can have nothing displaying in the multi-information display if you desire.

Agreed the manual information is the same..."Blank Screen" is the last page.
However, in the past my Blank Screen showed "Current MPG", but as of this past Saturday afternoon (12-16-23) it stopped working.
BTW, it was ONLY Current MPG no other information, NO "Blank Screen".

if by current MPG, you mean live MPG, then it’s on the 2nd page (one down when you’re at the very top of the “i” menu)

the last screen is not customizable, it’s just a black screen if you want no information displayed. You probably don’t remember correctly if you think it used to be different

    thats exactly correct
