Hmm, maybe I should take it to some one to do the walnut blasting then to prevent scratching the F out if. I've done 2 water pumps + tensioner in the past, in transverse mounted engine cars it's a bitch tho lol, not enough space! At least not in my old Audi TT.

But my GTI, man I love that thing. I wanna take care of that engine.

That's why you walnut blast it. It takes a few minutes per port and you don't damage anything. It's also why you don't wait for the buildup to get that bad.

From what I understand it is the same engine but may have had a few changes in the fueling department.

Well that's your opinion. Basically your saying stick your head in the sand and forget about it. Too funny. Of course we will enjoy it. My wife loves it now. It a beautiful vehicle in my opinion. I'm all about knowledge. Maybe there is an age gap between us. Who knows. lol. Thanks for your post.

No changes. It's multi-port injection and has been for a long time. It's one of the most reliable engines available. Enjoy it!

It's probably Toyota's most reliable engine alongside the 2.7 I4 in the Taco and the 4.7 V8 in the GX470, for the 23MY. In '24 it will be the last one standing.
