I just got my 2023 4Runner TRD Pro.
    Great truck.
My only thoughts are I wish the gearing was a little more sporty.
I use the manual shift but wish there was a way to adjust the automatic.
Seems to drop into 2nd and 3rd quickly and then loses a little torque when hitting the gas.
Also looking for any ideas for a performance upgrade.
I have read that tuning is the option.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Haven’t heard anything about the product, but it sounds like a throttle position manipulator like a Pedal Commander

    If money wasn’t a factor, I would regear and super-charge my 4Runner

Tune or supercharger. Pedal boxes do nothing more than floor it at first which you can do.

Not interested in supercharger. I am on Long Island. Any info on where to get it tuned?

I think the KDMax tune is around $450. No other suggestions for you yet. I just picked up my truck a few weeks ago so I’m trying to take some time to acclimate before determining my modification plans. If you do get a tune, post up your impressions. Other than a supercharger or shorter gears, I think that a tune is the only mod with actual performance gains. Pedal boosters just tell the ECU you pressed the pedal more than you actually did, so you can do the same by just actually pressing the pedal more. Not sure what your prior tuning experience is, but you’re not going to see the type of significant gains that are achieved on turbo engines. You’re looking at probably somewhere around 20-25hp maximum gained, but also possibly better shift behavior and maybe even fuel economy improvements as I believe the stock tune is designed with a pretty rich fuel mixture that leaves room to lean it out a bit while still remaining very safe.

So I had the KDMaxPro tune done to my truck a week and a half ago. It definitely made a difference. More peppy. The gearing is much better. I am still getting used to the truck overall. I noticed right away that the gearing was sluggish though. Had a Ram 1500 Sport with the Hemi before this. Totally different feel and drive. The Ram was my first full size. I am more comfortable in a smaller vehicle but I like a truck or SUV. This one is more to my style. The only other thing I am getting is a K&N air filter.

Do your research on the filter, there's a fair amount of controversy over them.

    Cheers!

Sounds like you are a naysayer on them. Do tell.

    Pros: Looks cool
Could be ok for street use
    Cons: $$$
Dirty air (allows larger particles than stock filter) if taken off road
Oil (too much can damage the mass airflow sensor - too little and it's really ineffective)
    No real payback in HP

But then there are those who love it!

    Just not for me.

    Cheers

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
