In 2010, I bought a new Gen 5 4Runner. It had a little over 250k miles on it when I sold it in 2017. Last summer, I bought a new 2023 4Runner; it was shocking to discover it was basically the same 4Runner from 2010. 2017 was a long time ago, much less 2010 when the original purchase was made. I recall changing the oil at 10k intervals. In addition, I changed/replaced the spark plugs, breaks, and engine coolant once for each. Despite the age of the 4Runner’s design, the choice was an easy one. Direct injection and small turbos are now mainstream; the 4Runner remains a gem because of its reliability and simplicity in design. Take a moment to appreciate the 4Runner in its current form because major changes in design are coming soon.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
If it works, don't change it. That's how your last 4Runner got to 250k without any major problems.

Welcome aboard, I feel a lot of us share the same feelings as you.

Also the main reason I have yet to move on from my 2007 Tundra over to a 2023. Initially was waiting for the update and then was deflated when I saw what the result was.
