Need shocks for ~3" Rear lift

I was in a similar situation with my 3/2 lift, rear shocks would top out driving over obstacles. I gave up on a solution and removed the lift. All better now.

Now you have me worried. I’m similar measurements when empty. I don’t have the weight of a rear bumper yet…

No I didn't need them with my current setup. When I go to long travel I definitely will be adding limiting straps.

 

What is your current rear-end setup? I've spent a bunch of time this weekend researching this and not a lot of people talking about their setups and what they have done in the rear.

When do people add links? Total Chaos or Opt Off-Road (https://optoffroad.com/products/03-4runner-rear-adjustable-control-arms?variant=40451378249918).

At what length are people adding limit straps?

Who has done a panhard correction kit or adjustable? Which is better?

Are 2.5" shocks really that much better than 2.0" shocks in these trucks, even with "long travel"?

When do people add reinforcements to their lower shock mounts (https://optoffroad.com/collections/...sent/products/lower-shock-mount-reinforcement) or lower link mount reinforcement (https://optoffroad.com/collections/...reinforcement-lls-4th-5th-gen-4runner-fj-gx)?

You only need to add limiting straps IF your removing the rear sway bar.

The wider the shock the more stability it has. But it also depends on the shock.

 

So if I used the quick disconnect sway bar extensions, then yes, but not if I just got the extenders?

My rear end setup is:

Toytech springs out back. I think they are 2". The original owner put these on and they have been great. I don't plan on switching them out. I understand that that ToyTech springs are made by Eibach. Maybe someone will correct me.
I have stock links top and bottom. Stock Panhard bar. Stock swaybar ends and stock swaybar.
My plans are to put these Dobinsons on, see if I need extended brake lines. Keep the swaybar on out back. Maybe remove the front one, or just plan on unhooking a link when off roading....?

My truck is definitely over sprung (I prefer my vehicles that way, my dually is also oversprung for heavy loads). I've been driving it this week without any weight and I like it, but I'm excited to get the panhard bar relocation kit on it to see how it drives.

I think with your swaybar, you should be good without the extended brake lines but I would not unhook them unless you get bigger springs and maybe even limit straps. At least, that is my understanding of these rear ends. I bought the extended sway bar links to hopefully bring back some of the factory handling. I'm going to try and do one mod at a time to see how the truck does.

First will be the panhard bar relocation kit. (plus brake lines)
Second will be longer shocks with bump stops (I doubt the bump stops will be used until I get into the desert and push it)
Last will be the extended sway bar links.

I think my driver side spring is contacting my fuel skid on heavy braking while turning to the right, I'm hoping the panhard bar is the reason for this.
