I love the ingenuity, I guess it might be useful, but it’s not for me. Seems kind of gimmicky.

I love the LEs drive train and if you are going to tackle any tough terrain you’d be in for gears and lockers, etc. and you probably know how to use left foot breaking.

So for me, it’s a pass.

True, may be many would get front and rear lockers and call it a day.
I think crawl would help only in special cases like very slippery down hill or something like that. I was surprised how even the basic downhill assist work with ABS.

The LE does have hill descent and again I find I generally do it better myself. *However* - I’ve used it in reverse and it was the bomb! That has been useful, more than once.

    Try it in reverse sometime.

For better or worse, I’ve learned to get by in life with the tools that I have been given. Though watching videos of vehicles digging themselves out on soft sandy beaches using MTS/Crawl Control looks like a useful system. I don’t go near soft sandy beaches so there’s that.

Honestly, it’s all mostly a gimmick. Mall control really is worthless when you have a brake and throttle. Mall Terrain Select is a little more useful since you can adjust the sensitivity of the traction control but depending on the price of the components and your use, a locker would give you more.

When I first bought mine (Trail. . . aka SR5 with black trim) I was lamenting not finding an ORP and not having all the off roading gizmos.

After having taken it on some positively scary terrain, highly technical, steep, rocky, etc out here in the CA and NV deserts and mountains . . . I'm fully convinced that even in plain stripped down form the 4R is *extremely* capable.

I'm now happy that I saved the money and was able to use it on better tires and suspension.

If its a easy swap like GX I would love to add that to my Limited. Worst case can swap the controler unit back to original one (I think). That 1st video I shared Lexus dealer did the swap.

Further affirmation in my decision to buy a basic SR5 with cloth seats. Plus, I have had the privilege to spend many hours on desert tracks and at no time did I feel my safety was compromised due to the lack of Off-Road tech.

A good set of A/T tires and common sense will get you far into the wild.

I’m hardly the target market for the OR goodies but I definitely like my sunglasses holder more!

If you really want to go hard, the best bang for the buck would be getting lockers

Limited is like a GX 460 and doesn't need it with AWD. They just sell those buttons to non trail drivers in off road models. Pro is the vehicle not necessarily the driver.
