Hello. I have a 2015 SR5. Have an issue with the thrust and the front right wheel. (Not sure if they are related.)

Have a rumbling from the front wheel. Dealership says it can be bearing or CV.

The thrust issue was first at -00.18. With various alignments, the trust varies from -00.03 to -00.10. The dealership says the preferred thrust is 00.00.

    My questions:

Has anyone dealt with the front wheel rumbling? Was it the bearing or CV?

Is it common to have the thrust angle off on 4Runners?

    Thanks

Is thrust angle referring to CV angle?

I would think it would take a pretty dramatic lift to get the CV joint(s) to groan/bind. Front wheel bearing are a common wear item on 4Runners and Tacoma’s.

My 97’ Tacoma had a bad drivers side wheel bearing. I could feel it before I could hear it.

Hi. Thanks. Then it might be bearing.

It’s new to me but I’m told the thrust angle is the rear axle position relative to the front wheels. A zero thrust means it’s parallel. Any other number means it’s off. When it’s off the vehicle “dog legs” meaning it goes down the road on a slant. I’m just repeating what I’ve been told.

Thrust angle *should* always be zero. However the rear doesn’t have any factory adjustments to be able to set it. It is what it is unless you get adjustable rear links. It won’t affect the wheel bearing or CV able.

Generally speaking CV will noise under load and they tend to have more of clicking type noise, especially while turning. Wheel bearings you can typically isolate bye swerving. If it’s a rotation noise that gets loaded with speed you can mildly swerve left to right. Wheel bearing noise almost always changes tone as the vehicle leans harder to one side or the other.

Thanks. I just looked up adjustable rear links. Total Chaos set. Maybe that’s the solution.

Did you end up getting this resolved? Did adjustable rear links work?
