Trying to decided between a 2023 TRD ORP in lunar rock (which is the color I want) and a 2023 white SR5P. Supposedly SR5P in lunar rock 2023 cannot be found for a dealer trade at all - did a large search.

I don’t want to to settle but I need to come to terms if the ORP is worth the extra 3000 dollars just for color.

I know they are not making this color in 2024.

I would get the ORP in the color you want, I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Get what you want and you won’t regret it. Settle and you will always wonder “what if?”.

Ditto to whatever everyone else has said. Get the exact color (and options, etc..) that you want. You're spending a lot of your hard earned money on the 4Runner.

Do not settle. Get exactly what you want, and nothing less.

+1 for getting the ORP in the color you want.

Do you want any of the other features that the off-road has over the SR5? Look at the trim comparison on Toyota's website and maybe you'll find something besides the color to make you want the ORP.

Otherwise, there's really nothing wrong with paying a little extra to get what you want. IMO, it doesn't make any sense to spend $40K+ and not get what you want.

So what? You're going to look at it every day. Some people buy the PRO just for the color.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I believe LR isn’t available in the SR5s at all.

The ORP will have higher resale value, if that helps.

Just go go for the ORP, even if you don't really need the extra functions it will probably pay off eventually when you resell. No more Lunar after 2023, just go for it! Getting Lunar was a hurdle for me but having done so this past January, I love the color and very happy I did.

$3000 over he life of the vehicle is nothing - if you don't, every time you see a lunar rock 4Runner you will think about it.

Get what you want-I sold my '21 Army Green Trail Edition to buy my '23 ORP Lunar Rock, cuz I wanted the color (lunar), rear locker, MTS/Crawl Control and sunroof the premium had-in that order. due to the crazyness of used cars pricing I came out pretty good in the trade, have what I want in options etc.

    don't settle...

    IMO, depends on your needs.

** With paint issue news / service bulletins I see I stopped buying white cars.
    1) I would buy SR5 premium 4WD if my wife needs to drive (because the easy 4wd selector), I need 3rd row, I need higher payload capacity.
    2) I would buy TRD ORP for myself for factory offroad tech.

Haha! Nothing wrong with it! You're never going to look at another one in the color you wish you had and regret it! Good choice!

Side note: I really didn't think I'd like that color; but, it looks awesome in person, especially if it's sunny out!

Green is my favorite color. And the sun really brings out the color for sure. But you are, right. There are plenty of people that don’t like this color. To the OP, if you don’t get the color you want, then every time you see that color you will be mad for not getting what you truly want. It’s a lot of money to “settle”.

No bragging, just trying to help the Lunar Rock crew and encouraging someone to get what they truly want. Way to make it negative o_O

There was not a lot of selection when I decided to pull the trigger on my 23 ORP. I was looking at sr5 prem, but most had 3rd row seat which I know I did not want. Ended up with a white ORP with blk running boards and trail cameras only added options (really like them). I thought I wanted an SR5 but am really happy with the ORP. I like the manually engaged 4x4 system vs dial - electronic actuator engaged. There is an ORP here in Waterford, MI - SzotM59 Toyota - has a Luner Rock ORP for $3000 under MSRP -

Man, screw this whole "resale value" talk... I'm keeping my Lunar Rock until the wheels fall off. Things are going hybrid/electric. N/A old school V6s are done.

My original plan was to keep mine forever. Resale value wasn't really a concern. But, it's still good for know, in case the shit hits the fan and I need to sell it.

I feel the exact same; even having two Tacomas, the 4Runner is the vehicle I’ve always wanted. My only problem is that I have OCD so it’s hard for me to get through these early stages of a new vehicle. I keep telling myself…”just buy another one later and it’s all good” Trying to come to terms with the fact that I’ll never be able to keep it perfect.

Just do what I did and go drive it through an overgrown trail and get like 1000 scratches all at once. After you stop feeling sick, you'll be over it. :D

In all seriousness, though; even in spite of having trail rash everywhere, I still park in the back corner at stores to avoid door dings.

correct, so if you want Lunar Rock, your only option is TRD sport, offroad or offroad premium. Unless you go used then you can get a pro or trail/venture edition which is the only one that was sr5 based in lunar rock.
