Looking to buy my first car and I’m currently in talks with a seller on an ‘06 sport v6 and I’d just appreciate some help on if it’s a fair price or not- as I’ve seen prices all up and down across all 4th gen years and with varying mileage here in Utah.

They’re asking $18,000 and they say they’re firm on price. Car has 124,000 miles, they’re the second owner. Don’t off road just use it as a daily driver. They say they have all service receipts during their ownership, and all work is done at the dealership-they say I can see everything under their owners login.

Sounds like the main reason for being firm on price was all the work they’d put into it; Owner said cats replaced, alternatetor and battery, drive belt tensioner, ac compressor, spark plugs, 100,000 service, axle boot replacement, oil pan replacement, rear shocks, and front brakes. Should I be “paying” for that? That’s just the cost of ownership for a 120,000+ mile car. Also should I be concerned as to why the oil pan needed replacing? I asked if anything happened with the car or if these fixes were just due to the age and wear and she said just because of normal wear.

The interior looks really clean from the photos and they said there’s very little rust anywhere on the car. Has a cracked windshield they said they’re going to replace and a little ding from their tent trailer about the size of a nickel. Are there any other things I should be looking for or asking about?

Hopefully going to take a look at it today, just feel like price is a little on the high end from what I’ve seen. Would appreciate any feedback or advice, thank you!

Up to you. Do YOU feel it is worth it? Is it what YOU want? Did they use the 4WD (to keep it "lubed"?)? Tire conditions and what type? Can you get it inspected or do you have someone to go with you to look at it? A "third party" observer may be a big help! Check out the records! Can you post pics?

Don't forget to check the AC and heater!

That’s way high. You’re right, they want you to pay for the repairs they would have had to do anyway and an oil pan replacement is an unusual thing to have to fix so check that out. Is it a V6 or V8? 4WD, and if so, do all modes and the locker work? Clean frame? I might go $14-15K if the thing is pristine.

BTW, a tip for anyone looking who wants 4WD - 4th Gens with 4WD have a B as the 4th character in the VIN.
