Uber that picked me up this morning was a 2015 4runner with 337,000 miles

Currently on a business trip In Vegas, this morning my Uber was a 4runner. Naturally I complimented the driver on his car, and he proceeded to show me the mileage. This has to be one of the highest mileage 2015 4runners.

 

Any noises or anything off about it?

 

Interesting - this was actually in my newsfeed last night. Guess what the number 1 vehicle on this list is? And..., 7 of the 12 on this list are Toyotas (counting the Lexus as a Toyota, which - of course - it is...).

Yeah, it had "TRD" on the hood, "TRD" on the dash, "TRD" on the "TRD", "TRD" the lunchbox..."TRD" the Flamethrower

 

Nothing that I could notice, not even any minor rattles or creaks. Honestly didn't feel different than my 2023

 

Main reason i bought the 4Runner. Even though its ancient and not high tech. Always wanted one decades ago.

I never understood the "latest and greatest" tech in automobiles. IMO, vehicles should be good reliable machines that take you from A -> B, not rolling iPads like Teslas are. Just give me a radio, Apple carplay, and bluetooth and I'm a happy camper.

 

This is why I bought mine. I don't even really like it that much anymore, but I'm hesitant to jump into anything else for these reasons.

I'm at 163k now, but since I'm in the NE, mine will be a mound of rust blowing in the wind long before 337k haha.

 

Agreed! When driving my wife's 2019 Volvo I struggle to turn on the heat, the radio, etc. Should not have to look at the owner's manual for the simple shit! I love the simplicity of the 4R!

 

I think that has more to do with Swedish user interface logic than modernity but I hear you.

Volvos take a little getting used to.

 

My '07 XC70 is nice, none of that news nonsense. No screen and physical controls for everything.

The new XC90 wagons are some of the prettiest cars on the road, but newer Volvos are scary with all the tech they have.

 

I drove a 2002 Volvo S80 for 13 years! Things were simpler back then! Great car! But it was done when I traded it in in 2016 with 240,000 miles. They gave me $400 trade-in value because it had good tires.

The wife has the 2019 XC60. Didn't need the XC90 space with the kids grown up and driving their own cars.

 

I have rented a few of their cars over the past couple years. The first one took some time to acclimate to controls but after that, no problem. They drive very nice. Solid, smooth, quiet, comfortable.

 

Well, that 300K+ is a good sign for me. I'm 73 and my 4R just turned 19K. So it looks likely to be my last vehicle. LOL

My Brother once owned a 1964 Volvo P1800. Of course, he now wishes he had it back.

 

I am 61 and my 2021 has 52,000 miles. I plan and hope to get 15 years out of this 4R.

 

How much did you tip? Hopefully a quarter tank of gas

 

I just bought a 2015 sr5 with 216k miles on it. Sweet rigs… hope it goes another 216k miles.
