I wouldn't bother asking for free parts because those are cheap (filter $4 and drain plug washer $0.99) but i would tell them where they can take and stick that complimentary service.!... J.K.

I would definitely tell them where to stick it. If their employees are too lazy or too incompetent to use the correct filter, then I’d gladly voice my displeasure.

Genuine Toyota replacement filters are made in Thailand. Not sure if the factory-installed filter is the same (can't discern printed text on the oil-soakes filter element).

Well at least it had oil in it. I doubt anything is hurt. Someone pit one of those junk metal Chinese oil filter housings on mine. That's what stupid oil change people do when they can't pay attention to what they are doing. Center piece in housing was loose, filter was to short. I ordered a new one off ebay and it came with filter that was correct. Mine has 197k and doesn't use any oil. I learned not worry about Toyota. If it was anything else I would worry a hole in the block.

Yeah I was thinking I had seen France on one once but that may have been a movie. And that is why at 60yrs old I still try to do everything. I trust me and if I tear it up, it's my fault. Nothing is worse than paying someone to tear it up and apologize. I can only be mad at myself cheaper
