Why does the 4R last so long?

    Is it the metal? Is it the bearing tolerances?
    So far after 318,000 miles.
    Replaced:
    Injectors
    Two starters
    New key
    Radiator and upper coolant hose
    Water pump and timing belt
    AC compressor and expansion valve
    Rumor: transmission was replaced
    Something with the top-end was done, not sure if the heads where replaced or what

    My 1986 F150 Lariot XLT 4x4 runs like brand new.
    Almost.
