“Solar Octane” sounds better than “Construction Cone Orange w/ a hint of Watermelon Now-or-Later Candy”….lol

The Solar Octane has too much orange in it for me. I suppose I could always get it repainted with Inferno!

Welcome. I'm pretty sure the new Terra color will be the right shade of orange for you then.

I agree, the “Terra” color should be perfect for someone who like the “Inferno Orange” but for me the “Solar Octane” has the WOW factor. Update: I took a long hard look at Terra again and maybe its too brown for someone who likes Inferno.

I could have changed my mind and wait for the Terra but staying with my first choice. SO. I think the Terra will look too brown. Wife also said what if you get sick of the color. I will just have it wrapped with a different color instead of trading it in. Lol.

The Terra is a mid brown with a hint of red, not orange at all. Brown.

This is exactly how I feel. It's way too brown & dull! Figure I throw this up. I would never buy a new pro without the new wheels, the terra looks even worse with the old pro wheels.....

Great the way you set those photos up. Looks like they started with the SO, added a little brown to get Inferno Orange and then went all in on brown to get Terra. I saw an Inferno TRD Pro this Spring and liked the color, but the Terra is just too brown.

In this most recent photo of Terra from Toyota the distinct mid brown with a hint of red color is confirmed. Could be nice. Would make a great wing tip shoe!

Found a Terra & saw it up close. Sorry it was early - it’s in the shade & dirty. Needs full light 4 sure. On a Tundra @ Stevinson Toyota West for $75,003 :spending:

Solar Octane is one of the reasons I went with the 4Runner over a GX. Definitely not for everyone but exactly what I wanted (I love silly bright colors).

Have seen both Inferno and SO in person and they are quite different imo. SO stays bright even in the shade. It's like the brighter highlighter version of Inferno with a bit more orange in it.

I made the right choice SO 4runner instead of waiting for the 24 Terra. Not a fan of dark colors where you easily see scratches. The SO won’t show them like a dark color. Don’t get me wrong my 19 C7Z06 is Black everything like the Batmobile. Lol. But it’s also fully wrapped so no scratches or swirls. Yes I’m anal with all my vehicles.

I agree. When I saw that Terra Tundra it was barely dirty but looked so bad. Not sure why that color brings the dirt out but it looked horrible! In the shade or light, the dust makes it looks extremely dirty

This sums up what I was going to say. Solar Octane is brighter. I had an Inferno Tacoma and loved it! The Solar Octane now catches my eye.

Personally, I would not be seen driving a 4runner in either of these shades of red. One is too in your face and the other is just a dirty looking red.
But I do know people that love this shade so I am sure they happy Toyota obliged.

My SO is still growing on the wife. Yes I agree it’s bright in your face. But the wife mentioned one thing maybe at least people will see you while they are driving or they are too busy texting but that bright SO will be in your face. Lol.

When I lived in Australia, they had a pick up truck kinda thing called the Holden ute. A sports sedan with a bed behind the two seats. Came with V8 power and the most in your face colors ever. That's the first time I saw a 'solar octane' on a utility vehicle. This was over 15 years ago and now I see it on a 4R, but my sentiment for the color remains the same.

Ya it’s definitely not for everyone, in fact I’d say not for most people.

But I’m on the other end of the spectrum with my cars. I love bright, fun colors among a sea of stale, blend in traffic, everyday colors that most people opt for. I find “normal” colors super boring and not interesting.

Then again, my cars aren’t purely A to B transportation. I need to be excited to look at and drive a car to own it…..highlighter bright orange on my daily driven 4Runner fits the bill lol if the 10 year old version of my thinks it’s cool, current day adult me still probably thinks its still cool.

It's great that you can get excited by the little things, like a car color .
For me the 4runner is a point A to B vehicle and I also prefer all my cars in white or if push comes to shove black. Bright, stand out colors look best on cars that can do the wrong side of 200mph, IMO.

Yes! Don’t need much, it’s honestly the little things that make my day. Too bad some of these little things cost almost $60K nowadays lol just feel fortunate to own cars that I truly love. Still love driving my 3rd gen for nostalgia reasons, although most would just see an old shit box.

As for 200mph cars….meh, not my thing. Most of my driving is on the street and have no desire to use 50% of a fast car’s performance 99% of the time while bracing at every Boston pothole. Give me an engaging car over a super fast one all day, in a cool bright color too!

Absolutely love my Solar Octane TRD Pro. I’m a fairly soft spoken person, and being loud isn’t exactly my style, but this color just pops on the 4R and fits the TRD black accents very well.

My wife on the other hand isn’t a huge fan of the color. Different strokes for different folks.
