    2023 Red 40th Anniversary 4Runner
I am the new owner of a red 40th anniversary 4Runner. This is the latest in a long line of red vehicles and my daily driver has 4wd or AWD for going on 30 years. I'm currently in Texas, but I moved here from Ohio 12 years ago. This vehicle will replace a red Subaru Impreza STI. I'm not as young as I used to be and operating a manual transmission in stop and go traffic isn't fun any more. I was also tired of looking up at the pickups that surrounded me.

I looked at a few other vehicles and gave a Tacoma serious thought, but I decided that by the time I purchased a cap for the bed, I may as well get the 4Runner. I got a decent deal on the purchase. I know that Toyota is going to come out with a new model, but I was happy to stick with the tried and true version and avoid any first year of production issues.

Congrats! Beautiful truck. Good move on getting the tried and trued 5th gen. I think red is the best color for the 40th anniversary edition.

Coincidentally, the birthplace of the 4Runner when a local dealer had some Toyota pickups transformed by Winnebago by putting seats and a cap on!

Welcome from Kansas. I am new to the forum too. Love your red 4R. Those vintage stripes really set it apart. My apologies but what year is this 4R? Did this 40th anniversary 4R have a special interior too?

I like your mentality! I did the same thing buying a 2023 TRD Pro to avoid all the issues with the next generation. I like red but when I got mine I kind of freaked out on the color, it's midnight black metallic, and reminds me of powder snow, Skier, that's why my user name is BlackPow.

    Welcome!

2023 is the only year they offer the 40th anniversary trim. I believe the interior is the same as an SR5 Premium but has a 40th anniversary badge above the glove box.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

The 40th anniversary is only for the 2023 model year (makes sense right?). The 40th does have a special interior. We get bronze stitching on the softex leather and "40th" embossed on the head rests. We also get a bronze badge on the back tailgate, bronze wheels, bronze letting for Toyota, and a bronze badge on the glove box.

The 40th is just a gussy'd up SR5 premium. They all come standard with leather, 4whl drive, a sunroof and heated seats/steering wheel.
