    I have been into Toyota`s 20 plus years .

I just got to the point of no shows not showing up to help with fixing my 2000 Tacoma.

Not being able to walk really puts the crimp on doing work myself The crawling in and out from under the truck takes far longer now then it used to.

Every thing has to be relearned without the strength in my legs .

Soon I will be living in this 2012 4Runner which is completely new learning to drive an Automatic is so very hard . Being the first one every since 1970

. I should look for a spare this one will be destroyed shortly old habits are hard to break How often can I try and shift gears before something explodes . .

Welcome to the forum, what is hard about putting it in drive and giving it a bit of throttle?

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

I remember slamming the brakes in my oldest brother's Crown Victoria wagon (auto) after learning to drive in my middle brother's '87 Corolla (stick).

But, I go back and forth pretty seamlessly now. It's an adjustment. Just don't try to use S mode like a manual shift mode. These things aren't designed that way.

    Having never done so before.

It is very hard for me to do the hard part is when I attempt to shift through all 5 gears .

Which in my case is all muscle memory it seems the automatic shifter does not like being shifted like a manual transmission. I am sure the transmission will no longer work after a few more attempts at driving.

Put it in drive, S4, or S5, and take your hand off the shifter and drive it. The S mode on these transmissions is not intended for manual shifting. All it does is lock it out of the next higher gear.

While the brain can under stand the concept my body can not .

Only 100 miles so far I am scared to drive it.

It can not be the hard to swap to a 5 Speed .

I never thought learning an automatic would be so hard.

Maybe find a spot to hand cuff my right hand to they only option I can think of..

My left foot hitting the floor does not seem to have caused any damage.

On the plus side the mileage seems close to the Tacoma between 12 and 14 mpg.

I sure am thinking this might have been really a dumb move.
