Installed 5100s two weeks ago and my ride feels a bit like it did on stock OEM shocks and struts.

Maybe im being nitpicky but it almost feels like the nose diving and body roll I had on stock parts is back. I have bilstein 5100 front and rear, front is set to .85 and everything is OEM. The first week I definitely noticed a difference. Anyone experience the same? Anything wrong I could be doing?

That's why I haven't replaced my Xreas yet. 5100s are a little better than stock but I like the handling right now. I doubt it will be as good as Xreas so I put up with it for now. They are a mono shock I believe. I think I will replace springs with mine to.

If those aren't stiff enough for you, then upgrade your coils with a higher spring rate.

Maybe you'd prefer 650lb coils up front and "medium load" coils for the rear.

That will firm things up for you.

I’ll look into that, thanks. What are the stock oem coils rated at?

There's never really been a definitive answer to this but the best info I've gathered over the years is the fronts are around 590lbs and the rears are around 200lbs. This is for SR5, Offroad, and maybe Limited? Pro's have a slightly softer front coil at 550lb.

interesting. i’m new to these as well and wanted to get bilsteins to level the front and raise it a bit.

so you dont like the ride how?

for the record, i had my first 4r for exactly 30 days before it got totaled in a wreck

it was an sr5 with stock shocks and just a revtek spacer. load c stock size ko2’s and it seemed fine to me, compared to my stock height sr5 now.

although i have e’s on this other one and e’s really improve street handling but i prefered the c’s off road. it did waller more on pavement.

I think I’m just being weird. Although the first week was great, they’ve definitely settled now and nose dive is back just no where near as bad as on stock struts/shocks. I’m on standard load Toyo at3’s

gotcha, i see now. you are after less nose dive. stiff rate springs will help that. i did read that adjustable shocks help stiff the rate by pre-loading them and that makes sense. its just not enough

these are pretty soft riding rigs and thats a feature for off roading. not pavement. lol

i’m use to driving half ton and 3/4 trucks the past 30 years so this soft ride has me adjusting as well.

Your right, I never found the correct answer for the coil springs either. But I think it's more like 550-560lb front and 160-170lb rear.

Dobs front springs are 586lbs and rear are 220. And I think their advertised at 10% increase over stock.
