    Hello everyone,

I have a 2018 4runner Limited with JBL Premium Audio. I removed an amp and a sub from my other vehicle and wish to install it on this one. I wish to keep the orginal system intact, and just add the sub.

I have already figured out the power cable and the remote wire. Actually I will run the remote wire straight from the battery or any 12V source in the vehicle and add a switch to it so as to turn it on just when in a mood of crazy bass.

The issue is with the audio signal input to the amp. I am unable to figure out which wire signal should be taken from the back of the head unit.

Has someone already figured it out? Also does anyone has the wire diagram of the back of the head unit.

    Thanks in advance

Do you want to replace just the JBL sub with an aftermarket one or replace both the amp and the sub with an aftermarket?

For replacing just the sub, the JBL amp would be a limiting factor. I think it makes around 90watts, hardly enough to power an after market sub.

The JBL amp powers all the speakers in the vehicle. It uses a digital signal from the headunit. You will need to put it back or replace the headunit and run your own wiring.

I am planning to keep all the original speakers n amps intact. I just want to find the wires (speaker level or line level, doesnt matter, my aftermarket amp has both inputs) which have the audio signals that can be used as input to my aftermarket amp. Once I find those, I will peel them and run a wire from those to my amp. In short, I will make a parrellel connection to my aftermarket amp from those wires.
