Rust preventative before putting sliders on?

Should I spray inner holes with some kind of Rust-Oleum rust inhibitor/preventative before installing sliders? I live in the harsh northeast and will probably have them on for a while.

The hardware that comes with them is zinc plated grade-8 bolts.

 

Any sort of liquid will throw off torque specs.

You could do it. You could skip it. No matter what you do or don’t, I wouldn’t think about it again after the sliders are on.

 

Yes Cosmoline or CRC Marine on all metal-on-metal contact areas.

Zinc plated alloy steel bolts will wither away after a few winters. Change them out to stainless so this doesn't happen:

 

I put a real thin layer of Lucas Marine Grease on mine before install and took off all the plastic caps. Might be unnecessary but felt it couldn’t hurt.
