Hey guys, yesterday morning I was on the way to work when I noticed the head unit display only said "Connected" instead of the song name. When trying to skip the song/change the volume it's unresponsive using the steering wheel controls or radio. It works like it should listening to FM, not sure about Apple Carplay since I use bluetooth exclusively. I've unconnected and connected my phone a few times and I'm still getting the same result. Haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet but I'm gonna give it a shot after work today. Anyone else have this issue?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

You can also do a factory reset of the head unit to try to resolve the issue:

I don't think this is a 4runner specific issue - had this issue with my Rav4 before. If I remember correctly, factory reset didn't work but the dealership was able to help. I would recommend also deleting the bluetooth connection from your phone and trying a fresh connection

The closest dealer is about an hour away from me so I'll set up an appointment if none of the suggestions work. I'm glad I'm not the only person that has experienced this since I didn't find much online describing a similar issue. Everything was working fine Monday

99% sure I figured it out. After I ate dinner with my parents, I connected my dad’s phone via Bluetooth and it worked perfectly. Reconnected my phone and still no display or controls besides adjusting it on the phone. Gotta look up if there’s any iPhone 12 Bluetooth issues now
