We are installing power running boards on our 2023 4 Runner. How do I determine which green wire is the door ajar wire, when looking at the harness by the driver's door? wiring harness drivers door 4 runner.jpg

There are several green wires. Is there a way to identify which green wire goes to the factory door ajar signal wire? Preferably without having to test each one by piercing the wire insulation.

Assuming the wire you need goes to the door switch, can you remove the door switch and see if there is a way to pull on the green wire on the switch and find out which one is moving in that cable run?

Did you figure this out? I was thinking you could maybe either 1) pull the squishy sensor out in the door jam(the one that gets pressed when you close the door) and visually see which wire color - or 2) toggle that same sensor (button) while checking for changes in resistance / continuity in each wire. (clamp meter)

I'd just cut them all and as you reconnect them, see when the door ajar lights turn out. That's your guy.

Of course, this is probably why I don't do electrical work.

With all power off, could you use a piercing probe and check continuity from the unplugged switch to the wire you suspect as being correct without the available wiring diagram?

Are they from China? They will only work one or two years anyway.
