They probably got it from the same salesperson that I bought mine from.. hoping I wouldn't ask too many questions (and not offering up any info voluntarily) as to not realize Im buying a dinosaur with lipstick on! haha

Yours came with lipstick on? No fair!

I bought my OR trim 4runner knowing full well it was a dinosaur. Then I brought it home and went to program the homelink…and realized it didn’t have it!. Apparently that’s too high tech to include in the lowly packages lol.

Bro, that was THE first thing I checked when I test drove it. Oddly enough, my tech-filled fancy looking Hyundai Sonata did not have it. I had to put the old-school clicker on the visor. It felt like I was back in 1998. I felt dirty.

But alas, now I hit a button that's builtin and the door magically opens. It also works from far away. I've been like...300/400ft away from my home and hit the button. The door opened.

I found that the Homelink transmitter has better range and reliability than my OEM (Genie) garage door remote. I never have to press twice. If you've got it, it's worth using.

One step ahead of ya'. I just ordered it on Amazon. It'll be here by Monday (but knowing Amazon, it'll arrive before then).

I rolled the dice on one of the Amazon $30+ versions, and it's worked fine for over a year.

Ordered the one from Japan as well. I'm glad I saw that the 2023 required a different part number as I was about to order the wrong one.

I'm not as much of a luddite as most of the old men on here, but I do hate power lift gates.

Anytime we take a trip in my wife's Outback and fill the back with stuff, I'll go to close the rear hatch and it will inevitably barely touch an item and refuse to close. That can be infuriating if you just spent 20 minutes packing it up with a bunch of crap.

Also, we all have auto headlights. Just turn the stalk on and leave it there. When you turn the car off, the headlights automatically turn off.

Damn bro. I gotta give you kudos for great word-usage. I had to Google "luddite".

    upload_2023-10-20_8-47-8.png

Yeah, I think that accurately describes me. I was using your method of just leaving the lights on all the time and when the truck is off, the lights are off. HOWEVER, when the lights are on during the day, the infotainment screen is black, because it thinks it is night time. I need it to, well...I want it to be white during the day with my headlights still on.

Sure, I can use the scroller wheel on the left hand side to manually change that, but it would be nice to have it done automatically. My new sensor arrives on Sunday (I think), so very soon, this will be a non-issue for me.

    Just accessories
The op got it confused with the highlander. They are standard on that model. I don't like that feature. The older mazda cx9's had a problem where it would come off at the hatch and leave a nice hole. They had to get ir repaired at the body shop.

At least some 4th Gen 4Runner trims had power latch and release hatches but not powered open/close mechanisms. My 2003 Limited had it.

My biggest gripe with the stupid auto lift hatches. if you don’t manually turn them off when washing the car, the damn things will open on you all the time. It’s awful.

Homelink is actually a nice feature ive never had on a vehicle. Use it all the time to open and close the garage. Im happy I just went for the premium, almost went sr5.

My homelink is good for about 400ft. I can open the door before anyone sees me. I wonder if I can link to The Bat Cave.
