I am ready to jump up to 33" tires and would appreciate a sanity check from the experts. Currently running BFG at/ko2 in 265/70/17 C rated on Pro wheels. They work great for me on and off road aired down. Not ready to regear with a newish low mile truck but it is in the future.

I also have a g1 taco on 16" wheels running 265/70/16. I am thinking the SCS Ray10 17" with -10mm offset and 4.3 BS fitted with KO2 in C load would be interchangeable between both trucks. I will put them on taco and trim to fit. Putting Dobinson IMS 2" lift with SPC UCA to upgrade the ride.

Seems like a good plan to upgrade taco and have wheels/tires for 4runner? I would like to throw the 285's on 4runner when no trips planned. Fully loaded down with all my weight in 4runner on highway trips is a dog as is and I know regear is my solution long term. Thanks for any advice.

Imo, regearing is not necessary for 285s. Maybe if you tow alot or are heavily weighted down. look at getting it tuned(kdmax, ott. Yotawerx).

Yes I agree it's optional. Having 285 and 265 I think will be a good compromise for me. Normal driving around town it will be fine either taco or 4r. Fully loaded down with hundreds of pounds of extra gear and people going up mountain inclines is where it won't work for me. It's a dog on 265s now with gear hunting and mountain inclines.

Weight in 4r seems to be a big factor with 285s. I have buddies that are ok with it but they are usually driving solo no passengers or extra gear piled in the truck.

Considering a tune in the future as an option also.
