Half of a huge ficus tree fell on my car, & was on top of it for 9 hours before the city was able to remove it. I have yet to have an auto body shop come to pick it up to check it out, but i slightly want to get a feel for what I’m looking at. I can’t turn left because my tire hits the outside frame.

Glad everyone is okay! It looks totaled to me, hang in there DJ! Take those side steps and basket off before they take it. You want to keep those to sell or for your next truck!

A-pillar has a big boo-boo. Time to shop for a new one.

OMG that is awful! I'm so sorry this happened to you. My guess would be it will be totaled by insurance based on the A pillar and likely roof damage.

If it is totaled, should i have the auto body shop take them off for me, or should i take them off myself?

Im going to say its not totaled. Repairs have to be well over 80% market value. Who's your insurance with if I may ask?

the roof rack is part of that trim 4runner so it shouldn't have to be declared. the side steps and ladder is something you can declare as optional items.

If anything i'd make sure to keep the cooler it should have come with.

Farmers has an added coverage charge for "OEM Parts" so they can use used panels and aftermarket panels when repairs are performed. I used to be a Farmer's Direct Repair Estimator. I've seen some serious repairs and so long as you go to a legit repair facility I wouldnt be too worried about quality of repairs.

Depends on what they use to determine its worth.

I'm going to say pretty close to totaled if its not.

Not always the case. Damage to certain areas will deem it totaled whether it exceeds 80% or not.

Your insurance company will tell you if it's totaled. There's definitely some significant damage. What does the passenger side look like?

My condolences. That looks pretty bad. I'm not an expert, but I would be concerned about A-pillar damage.

I agree, but it looks superficial. Tough to be sure from the pictures, though.

NOT an insurance expert here, but to me the kill shot is that compromised A pillar. I suppose anything is repairable with enough $$$ but I don't see it ever having the structural integrity it did originally. If someone deems it safe, then you have another accident and the roof caves in on your cranium, they'd be on the hook.

I think the concern is that the the value with it on may not be that much more than the normal insurance value of the vehicle. Aftermarket parts usually dont add that much more insurance payout.

Question is would you really want it back if it's been "fixed". Sure it'll be fine when it's first fixed but then things can creep up later down the road. Also resale if you decide to sell it you will take a hit. I'd give them the keys (after you take your aftermarket goodies off) and go shopping.

If the Price is right I'd buy it in a heartbeat... Great "pre scratched" off road rig. Not being an Insurance Estimator I am going to go with the "Not Totaled" bet because it "looks like just fender, hood, windshield , Pillar work and front bumper cover work plus some paint. Take it to the Most Expensive Auto body Shop you can find for an estimate Not who the insurance Co recommends.
