    Hey guys,

Looking for some help on a good wireless CarPlay adapter for my 4Runner. I bought the Rexing wireless adapter and had issues with it connecting and not letting me adjust the volume so I returned it. Anybody have any luck with any other ones? Thanks.

It's not perfect but the Carlinkit 2.0 from Amazon works very well. I suspect later versions may work even better.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Apple & Toyota are like the Hatfields & McCoy's.

They've never got along, and never will. Hey, you can switch to Android or just put all the music on a USB drive? That's what I do!

pretty sure thats apple and tesla. toyota has wireless apple carplay on all newer cars. Just not 4runner, although as others will point out, adapters exist that basically make your car support wireless carplay.

I just ordered the 5.0 on Amazon. It was $59.99 for Prime Day. Thanks for the tip.

    I use one of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BR3JBNQB?ie=UTF8

I’ve had it since February, worked great first in my Mustang and now in my 4Runner. There is a slight delay when pushing an onscreen button and the phone to respond. It’s not horrible but it is noticeable, other than that it’s been reliable and beats using a cable.

I added a right angle USB adapter and the unit tucks cleanly into the cubbie hole next to the USB port instead of swinging around by its short cable

Has anyone looked at the Magic Box adapter for wireless CarPlay? I'm having issues with the one I originally bought as a good percentage of the time I either get the screen for the adapter itself or my phone just does not want to connect at all.

wired carplay only works on the front USB. When connecting the adapter, it can only be on that same USB to use wireless carplay. The other USB ports are just providing power (no data)
The only way to get carplay to work in the center console would be to relocate the front usb that transmits data from the front to the center console

So does that Carlinkkit work with 4Runners that don’t have CarPlay at all or do you need some sort of baselines feature in the 4Runner to make this work?

In other words, would this add CarPlay to my 2016 4Runner?

    thanks.

Your head unit must support wired CarPlay

Someone makes a module that will turn the 2014-2019 radio into a CarPlay capable unit, but it looks bad and is like $800. I just put a new double din Pioneer head unit with CarPlay in mine and been happy. Easy to install and cheap.
