Hello all, just wanted to be active on the Forum. Our neighbors invited out for dinner last night after I repaired their air conditioning unit last week, we decided to drive our 4runner. Once we rolled down the back window and turned up the music I heard them say it's time to trade in the Tacoma and pick up a new 4runner.
I offered them ours to test drive over the weekend to be sure but they said we could just go along to dealer next week and see our Salesperson to check inventory and color options. After seeing ours pull in and out of garage and driving around they said they have been seriously considering making the jump, who knew..

I also had a Tacoma. These 4 Runners sell themselves. I really think the 4 liter V6 is better from a reliability perspective. And the coil spring rear suspension has advantages. If you need a bed the Tacoma is a great option. But if not, it’s hard to beat the 4 Runner.

The 4Runner is leaps and bounds above the Tacoma. We had a '19 Tacoma and ended up in a '22 4Runner, couldn't be happier.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I feel the same.. I had a 2021 Tacoma and I was just commenting to a family member the other day how useless the backseat in the Tacoma was. It made it completely impractical. The Slow'Runner has a backseat that can fit full sized people and an enclosed back area. The bed on my Taco was pretty useless also. The SlowRunner solved all the problems I had with the Taco.

THIS. Not only can is the Tacoma rear seating useless for adults. We have two 40lb pups and they even struggled to coexist back there.

Something else I noticed about the Taco vs SlowRunner.

My Taco had a higher step in, but the seat was low to the ground. My legs were extended (almost) straight out. The SlowRunner has a lower step in, but the seat is much higher. It's like I'm sitting in my office chair at work - a much more comfortable seating position for me, PLUS, the seat has built in thigh support.

I found that kind of weird, because I think they have the same standard ground clearance; it's like 9.6 inches, right?

Interesting observation there. I do find that I "step in" to the 4Runner more whereas with the Tacoma I almost had to "slide in" because the seat and sill plate were seemingly so close together.

Ground clearance is measured at the lowest point, which is the bottom of the pumpkin on the rear axle. That's why all solid axle vehicles have similar Ground clearances. Ground to frame is much more than 9.5"

Tacoma was designed for militants who blew themselves up. Comfort is not their thing.

    Umm.

The Tacoma is for the US, Canada, Mexico, and a couple of other countries in the Americas.

    And New Calendonia.

You’re thinking of the Hilux, and even then, it’s not remotely true.

Got my 4Runner 2 weeks ago while dumping the 23 Tundra 1794 pos I had. I test drove a Tacoma TRD PRO first and hated it. Hard seats, the steering wheel telescopes like 1 inch??? Steering wheel shook & it was pulling right on the highway. Yes brand new. I got out and into the 4Runner right next to it, bliss.

Two weeks later, my wife is picking up my title from the dealership and now we have 2 4Runners LOL.

Why was the Tundra a pos?

With 3 weeks of ownership, the outside badging was coming off. The outside fender trim kept popping out. A few of the inside door panels kept popping out. The center console rattled like it was full of marbles. The random gas peddle hesitation was maddening, 1-3 second random delay from a stop when pushing the gas to get the truck to go. The last time it happed, I was in the middle of an intersection waiting for my turn, light turns yellow & I get an opening, hit the gas and nothing........ Light turns red and finally the truck takes off like a bat out of hell because at that point I had it to the floor. That was on my way to test drive something else and it sealed the deal on my hate for it. A lot of people have had much worse experiences than me but after 3 trouble free years with my 2021, I couldn't stand it.

Batman is that an ORP in Solar Octane looking at the valence? 24? If so can you post some more pics? Curious how it looks with resolver valences etc.

Nah Barcelona red 2023 ORP. The wife's is a 23 MGM SR5 Premium. Probably the way my LED lights make it look orange. Both of these were built late July, no 24s at my dealer yet.

I've heard plenty of horror stories about the new Tundra. I was under the impression the bugs were work out in the 2023 models. I guess not

Oh, I think I forgot Bermuda.

Yeah, New Caledonia is a bit of a head scratcher.
