I’m looking at using Valvoline Synthetic 75W-90 for the rear diff and was planning on using it for the transfer case as well as the front diff. Toyota calls for a different lubricants for these components but so many seem to use the Valvoline or other aftermarket brand equivalent. Has anybody run another brand for a while and not had any issues. Should I just spring for the Toyota brand lube and call it a day. The fact they come in a bag… ease of use is the biggest selling point for me more than anything.

Good stuff, I’m running in all 3 gear boxes. Love the bags.

Redline MT-LV 70W/75W in my transfer case right now. Have also used Ravenol MTF-3 75W. Both excellent.
That being said, many will tell you the 75W-90 will work just fine.

Any off the shelf 70/90 gear lube will work just fine in the diff and transfer case.

Redline in all 3. It’s not as much the brand of fluid but the frequency that you actually change it.

Message intended for OP. Agree to run Ravenol MTF-3 75W (GL-3). DO NOT use normal 75W-90 (GL-5), will eat away syncro ring in transfer case overtime. 75W-90 is for differentials.

Can you quantify ‘over time’? I’ve read some interesting feedback on this fluid debate.

Sorry I didn’t watch this video close enough. Car Care Nut specified GL-3/GL-4 requirement only applies to manual transmission. But this guy has very good info about everything Toyota.

I’ve come across an official response from Toyota via email where they said to use 75w-90 in the TC. It’s posted in one of these threads.

Borla exhaust, Jet MAF sensor, K&N filter, Hayden rapid cool transmission cooler, Hella horns, electric fan, Pedal Commander, Derale power steering cooler,
I poured my Mobil 1 in a gallon jug and used transfer pump. A lot easier than multiple bottles me. One gallon jug will do front and transfer and another 3.5 qts in rear.
