Used 4Runner prices dropping?

I was looking around Charlotte online at used 4 Runners. Not that I’m in the market but just to see how prices looked. There is a good supply of 4 Rs available at below KBB fair prices. I saw several 2022 TRDORs (not premium) with around 35,000 miles , for $35,000. Sounds like market is softening.

Likely due to the supply being high, the higher interest rates, and the region you're in. Right now near me in CO there is a 2018 SR5 Premium with 33k miles that they want $37,000 for. That doesn't seem too soft to me considering 9 months ago I bought my 2023 SR5 Premium with 3 miles on the odometer for $42,000. They also have a '21 with 18k miles for $43,000.

Wow! Must be a regional thing. If I was looking for a used 4R, I would be willing to travel. Likely these here were rentals. However, normally the rentals I see are sold at 40,000-45,000 miles. Rentals , not in rust belt could be good opportunity. I’m guessing most rentals are not abused off-road. But not treated real well. Could be easy highway miles. Maintenance would be questionable?

Based on what I saw on my last visit, the 4R is the state vehicle of CO, so that's not surprising.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Jeeps were #1, followed by 4Runners at #2. LOL

Good, want more people that appreciate these cars to have the chance at affording one. Have no issue with the value of mine taking a dive too (don’t plan on ever selling it).

Same here in Kansas. I drove my ‘23 4Rumner off the lot with 4 miles on it for $43K and the used vehicles we looked at (Tacomas and Jeep Gladiators) had 30-40,000 miles on them for $50K. There was one Tacoma for sale with 110,000 miles on it for more than my new 4Runner.

New Jeep prices continue to fall here (Greater Toronto Area), $5-9K below MSRP. All dealers here are stuffed, and a lot of dealers with used cars (not Honda or Toyota vehicles) are probably owe more on their used inventory than they are will to let them go for … so that inventory is also starting to climb.

Read an article a while back, predicting the future market for used vehicle is going to be the opposite of what we had during Covid.

Covid - no new cars being delivered, so dealers were buying up used vehicles at ridiculous prices and selling them at equally ridiculous prices.

Post-Covid - production ramping up again, buyers returning and wanting new hybrid/EV models, meaning high supply of used vehicles soon.

Anyone who sold a used vehicle during Covid probably got the best deal ever.

Agreed. Had a 2010 Dodge Caravan had it for 10 years sold it during covid for more than half of what we paid for it and was more than happy to put it all on my '22 ORP.

I live south of Houston TX. My wife just bought a 2018 4Runner Limited for right at 33000, a touch over 36000 out the door. It has about 75500 miles on it. Very clean vehicle. We were pretty happy as we couldn't find one under 40K in anything newer. Carfax on it looked like the two owners did good maintenance, and it lived it's life in central Texas. Undercarriage looked pretty clean, and everything worked great. So, my wife is a happy camper.

Our only complaint was her interest rate. She has excellent credit. We got her 7.09% from Amoco FCU. Which by todays interest rates was pretty good. I sure wish we could've gotten her the 2.05% I got on my Tundra pre covid.

Any dealer selling cars well over MSRP at this point are trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes still. The sad part is a ton of people are still falling for it. There is an off site dealer lot in my area filled end to end with Jeep Wranglers. If you go to the actual dealership they will tell people they are still in short supply. Its all manufactured at this point. Carmax has over 450 used 5th gen Toyotas for sale and a good amount of them have very low mileage.

    Holy smokes 7.09 percent.

My neighbor who is looking to move said the lowest rate he could find on a home is 7.95 percent. This was just last night. I have no idea what his credit is like obviously but I was in shock. Thank God I saved all these years.

Yea, these interest rates are horrible right now. We felt the 7.09 was ok considering the mortgage going rates. She financed through our credit Union. They always have the best rates.

LMBO!! The man has jokes!! I certainly hope this next election cycle corrects this. I'm ready for less inflation, lower fuel and food prices, and lower interest rates. We shall see how things roll in '24. I know I'm tired of how our economy is now. It sure eats into any disposable income you have for fun stuff. Especially, my wifes new ride is what we'll be traveling in.

Even my credit union is advertising rates “as low as 7.99%” lowest from a credit union in the state that I saw recently was 5%.

It’s nuts. Then you have someone who just bought some eco turdbox with some 1.99% incentive rate laugh and think they got the deal of a century.

Definitely not a great time to finance a huge purchase right now.

4runners never drop much. They are price by milage and condition. Use cars are more extensive because people are keeping longer and more of them than new ones.

All we have to do is buy our own oil. It will lower world price and we don't have to buy from our enemies. This is an orchestrated plan to bring about a one world government and currency and religion by selling pole shift as climate change are so broke. We have a spending problem and a bigger problem stopping. A

I saw a 2001 with under 100k .4 years ago I found one like for $10k. Someone asked 24 now for same thing now.
I bought mine $5k and it hadn't been off a paved road. I could have fixed it and made a profit. Day late and dollar short. I have consistent luck.

If you are willing to travel to save thousands they sell better in some spots than others. They had a 2018 TRD orp or pro in that really cool calm blue. $43k for 85k miles. That's high for the year. They had a Limited and the sold first and they brought it some more from the auction. Our salesmen would go to Ford dealer if they got a trade that could be certified or sold ant trade them a Ford. You get more money from your own brand on your lot. There's negotiation now. It's supply and demand. Highest bidder wins. This strike isn't helping. Drives prices higher because there's less inventory. If I was willing to pay the price for ultimate runner I buy the supercharger one. Then you won't looking for power and mileage upgrades or performance parts. Even the OTT Tune I'm going to get might be enough. With supercharger you have most power you can make from one part. It you do you won't waste money on performance upgrades.

I got my 2013 in Nashville from a dealer who specializes in high end high mileage Mercedes, BMW, Toyota and Lexus that were really clean inside. I paid under $24k for 169k on it, buy it has JBL system. If you check that box my selection went from 54 to 2. As long as it came from south, mileage doesn't scare me. It was probably a company car because you don't see many JBL systems in them.
