Glad I did not get a Bronco or Ford

This would stink....spend big $$ to have engine failure like this.

heh. would never buy ford but admittedly I am deriving pleasure from it.

 

And just to pour salt in the wound, a lot of these Bronco owners were paying $10K over sticker.

 

I had a Bronco (Black Diamond) on order from Oct 2020- Nov 2021, and was pumped. Then I realized the accounts kept building of early engine troubles and problems with the the wonky hard top. I cancelled the Bronco order and "ordered" my 4Runner, which was delivered April 2022. Absolutely zero regrets! Funny thing is that the Ford dealer didn't cancel the order; I kept getting emails of when it was scheduled for production, and when it got produced and delivered. Ford even sends a picture of your actual Bronco rolling off the assembly line (VIN matched I suppose). Likely sold it to some sucker for way more than my agreed price. Thankful to have a reliable and capable 4Runner!

 

Schadenfreude. Let's not pretend that Toyota's are free of issues. Look at the new Tundra, and I realistically expect the new Tacoma and L/C to have issues. When you outsource so many components, it is likely that there will be issues.

 

Agreed 100 percent! Nothing is 100 percent but when you do something many times over you get better at it which is what I think and I emphasize think is cool with the 4R. They have built the same parts and same vehicle for so long increases chances of longevity

Ford engines are just problematic.

I wanted a f150 raptor soo bad. But I talked to some owners and after 50k miles its just issue after issue.

I just hope Ford makes it a recall.

 

I started my 1986 Ford today runs great.

 

I was torn between the Bronco and 4runner when I bought my 4runner. I ended up with the 4runner for numerous reasons, not the least of which is I didn't want to be a guinnea pig for the first iteration of a new vehicle. I think that, given a few years to iron out some of their issues, the Bronco will be a fine alternative to the 4R or Jeep, but I'll wait until it's time to replace my 4runner before I make that decision.

Boy am I glad my wife made the choice to buy our ORP. Her current car is dying and she wanted a new SUV, she was dead set to get a Bronco Sport Badlands with all the lux and tech features. Then she started seeing they were going for low to mid $40k, and she realized the ORP was a better choice for a couple thousand more.

One thing I did tell her for sure, if she really wanted to get the Bronco Sport at least get the 2.0 4cyl because it's the most "reliable" option. That 3cyl they offer is iffy, hasn't been out long enough to see how reliable those truly are.

 

And this is why I bought my 2023 4Runner because I don't want that 4 banger turbo Eco eng. These 4.0 V6's seem to be bullet proof. Had 2 FJ's A Tacoma, & this is my 2nd 4Runner. All W/basically same eng.

 

I was always a Jeep guy I've had 7 over the years the early ones were great with the straight 6 but after they went to the v6 everything started going downhill had 2 motors go bad on me b4 they even got 80 thousand miles and my last jeep was having massive electrical problems no one could figure out. I found my 2020 SR5 and could not be happier. Fords drove them for 43 years at my job we don't even want to go there.
