I know it sounds lame but I never have done my own work before. I changed the engine oil, differentials oil, transfer case oil, and greased the spiders and slip yokes. Now at least I know it's done correctly and all at the same time stamp.

did most of a front brake job...
no noise or other issues but I have a little over 77k on the odometer and we tend to drive a lot in our family (split between the 4Runner and my wifes Subie) . had a slow weekend so I figured I'd do brakes now vs finding out that I 'had to' do it when I was crunched for time.
Interestingly, when I got the old pads off, still had a hair under 6mm all on the old pads.
Drivers side went ok, but the caliper mounting bolts would not budge despite a little hammering on the breaker bar, adding a 3 foot cheater and several hours bathed in PB Blaster. got the new pads in on that side....if I can't get the bolts to budge tomorrow, guess I'll hike my skirt and take it to a shop to get the caliper off and rotor changed.

Canvasbacks for the rear (courtesy of pasr519, thank you very much!) and a Ranger shift know from Tinkerer Design. This shift knob is so cool and the quality is fantastic. Cannot say enough good things about it. Well worth the money, IMHO!

That can be a really tough bolt.

Broke a couple of wrenches on it myself.

It finally came loose for me somehow.......not sure exactly how.

Time for the first PM, no more dealership 10k oil changes. Adding the metal housing just because. Not pictured: WIX air filter and rear 5100s to match the front.

I ordered a single "genuine" filter before taking delivery and it arrived smashed in a plastic baggie.

Sucks you had problems from day one but I’ve used CSF Radiators in a lot of my vehicles and never had any issues. Hope this one works

Hopefully they made up for the issue you had with yours. I mean I’d be pretty bummed if I went through installing a new radiator and it leaked. As for the trans cooler I just put in a Hayden cooler as that seemed the most compact and have a buddy that’s been running that cooler in his Tacoma with good results. I will test it today.

Just put new shoes on the wife's 4Runner yesterday. We've had good luck with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W so that is what we put on her 4 Runner.

I just applied Surface Shield and Fluid Film. I used the SS on everything I could see, and the FF with 360 hose inside of the frame, door panels, etc..

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Yup, they're OEM size: 265/70 R17. They weigh only...6lbs more per wheel. I think the OEM's tires weigh 39lbs per tire and these are 45lbs. I paid $1049.26 at Discount Tire (that's including tax and mount/balance - they deducted $12 for the disposal fee, because I took them home with me).

The Amazon God's delivered MORE presents to me:

    Rear cargo/back seat protections (before):

Rear cargo/back seat protections (after). It was folded over when it arrived, so I assume it'll take a day to start laying completely flat.

    FitCamX Dashcam (before):

FitcamX Dashcam (after): This was a SUPER simple install and I love how it looks OEM and is hidden. I'll test out the video quality on my way to/from work tomorrow.

I'm super stoked about FINALLY getting mine done this week. 5% on sides. Front glass and sunroof were gonna get done but that got a little over budget for now. But something I did learn while talking with the tint guy (and this was something I never knew), but apparently the glass from rear and back glasses USUALLY come with a dark dye on them (making them appear tinted). It's only the frontglass that appears "clear." If you roll down your rear back door glass and don't see a line across the top where installer's tint would stop, then it came dyed from factory.

So if you didn't know that either, I'm happy to share the knowledge.

If you did know that, and I look like a boob for sharing my new knowledge, then a boob I am.

My .02 on my install. It is that easy if you have the tools. Only issue i had was dealing with the weight of the hub with the brakes installed, it's not crazy but on jack stands it was a little Awkward. Having a second pair of hands would help getting it out of the way and secured. But it's an easy DYI. If you have ever installed struts, your 3/4's of the way there.

That dashcam looks really good! I would be curious about your opinion on how it performs. Seems limited reviews on Amazon.

The video's that I saw had good quality, well...similar quality to my old Garmin Mini 2. It has the basics that I need: Time/Date stamp and records in HD or 4k. It doesn't show my MPH's or my GPS location. I'm okay with that.

I'll grab some files from it later today and upload them to YouTube tomorrow, then you can watch & judge for yourself.

Sprayed Meguiar's P/N G17804 headlight coating. Either the previous owner or the used car dealer did headlight restoration, so it's necessary to re-coat each year:

I swapped out my Metra stereo dash kit for a Scosche this morning, see Metra in the above quote. In my opinion, the Scosche is a far superior design.

With the Metra, the radio and the surround aren’t connected in any way, so over bumpy roads, the radio would rattle and jostle around. I didn’t like the flat dead space next to the screen, and the HVAC trim pieces didn’t line up quite right with it.

With the Scosche, all of these problems are solved.
