Here is my diy roof rack. I used 1.5 tube steel, 5/8 tube steel and a mesh on it. It was about 150 in metal. Total time spend building it was about 10hrs. I am happy with almost everything but will adjust after a camping trip to baja.

Not yet, recently bought an aluminum spool gun and 100% argon gas tank. Now I can weld steel and aluminum. I’ll need to build a bending jig then design it.

It’s a bit tricky as it burns way hot , and melts real fast. Holding the gun takes getting use to as well and I’m not good by any means! I want to get into Tig at some point.

Well i have adjusted it since i first finished it. I originally used same screws for the roof rack. Then lowered it and drilled new with silicone to close any gap and old holes. Last week i added a new wind fairing to the rack. I did this because the one i welded on ended up bien to low.
