Dealers in my area have started to discount 4Runners around $2000+ off MSRP so sooner then later I guess.

Repo market starting to be a flood of cars in a lot of states, combined with continuing high interest rates. Big divide between those that are doing ok and those that are not. Banks are less willing to finance new cars with overinflated pricing, so even if dealerships get sales … they can’t them financed.

The 1 dealership not too far from me has a 2023 TRD Pro in white W/what I'm looking for but it says on dealer site " In production". Surprised they haven't changed over to 24 model yr yet?

Yeah I am seeing a lot more 4Rs and Tacos and inventory sitting at my dealer. Seeing the same two 4Rs sit for a few weeks is unusual

The economy is awful for sure what a joke, all self induced to. Oh well

I read this last night and went down the YouTube rabbit hole. I’m surprised this isn’t getting more focus on the news outlets. Guess it’s not time quite yet for the narrative focus to switch yet

Yep you cannot talk about repos, high interest rates, inflation, or any of the like. That is disinformation.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
The dealership that I'm negotiating with to buy a new 4Runner told me the other day "In the last 4 - 6 months, almost every person who has come in trying to sell/trade their 2020 and up vehicle is upside down. No one has any equity in their vehicle."

Then he was shocked to learn that I have paid off two vehicles since 2021. He mentioned the vast majority of the vehicles that people were upside down on, were domestic brands. Mainly Dodge products (Chargers & Challengers).

A brief search seems to indicate a lot of coverage, but it's all from mid-2022, I guess when the number of repos started going up. Maybe they figure they already covered it?

One story said that sharply rising repos are usually an indicator of a recession, but that this time there doesn't appear to be other corresponding signs of recession. This doesn't surprise me because since 2020-21, the economy hasn't been predictable, it just keeps roaring along like a freight train.

I'm the opposite (always have been), I tell them NOT to include TT&L into the price. I pay that upfront. Why pay interest on taxes? That's just silly.

The salesman is amazed at how much I'm putting down and that I'm paying for TT&L up front, so my monthly payment (for 48 months) will be around $450. I'll have a lot of equity in the new 4Runner before I drive it off the lot.

Damn, I'm looking at paying this much for TT&L: $1659.18 (This is because I'm not financially the full amount)

Ah, well in the good ol' Republic of Texas we don't have state taxes. That's another reason why this state is so freakin' awesome.

I love it bring on the high interest rates! Works great if you have savings and then when people finance too much and everything busts deals to be had.

I didn’t know that about Texas. Here is our fee in the province of Ontario, Canada on top of a new vehicle selling price:
    • Freight and PDI: $1,930
    • A/C tax: $100
    • Our province dealer organization fee: $10
    • Environmental fee: $23.50
    • Dealership fee from: $400 to $1,221 (depending on dealer)
    • Loan registration fee (if you finance): $100
    • Federal/Provincial combined sales tax of 13%, which on a TRD Off Road at MSRP would be: $7,746.

Give us a few more years here stateside and we will be paying those extra fees also. We are no longer smart enough not too.

All of us Americans apparently like paying more for things here and not getting anything extra in return. Heck we just give everything away and keep smiling.

Goddamighty. Here we pay a flat $500 road use fee and no sales tax. It makes my habit of getting a new car every year or two much easier.
