Hi I'm fairly new to the vehicle modification world and want to get some heavier mods on my 2022 sr5 4runner.
I want to get a roof tent, front a rear steel bumpers, cat shield (already installed), running boards (already installed).

My question is what type of suspension would I need to better support or compensate for the increased weight? I don't plan on off roading much but I want good proper suspension.

Some aftermarket manufacturers offer different spring rate options. I have heavy rear springs from Bilstein and medium duty front springs and they are good for the amount weight I carry (about 780# without camping gear).

I'd also highly recommend against full steel bumpers if off-roading isn't on the menu. I could see doing the front if you're in an area where deer are heavily populated, though.

There's an endless amount of options out there. It all depends on how much weight you end up adding and what lift height you want. But the #2 guy is right, don't over estimate what you'll need. I've had my 4Runner for 7 years and never changed the rear bumper.

Either way, we offer many different coils and options to lift it to where you want it.

Why would you suggest against? Just unnecessary? Basically I just want to have my car be more protected in the event that someone crashes into me. If I get in a fender bender that isn't my fault I want to be able to say "sorry about your car, mine is fine though".

It's just a lot of extra weight to be hauling around. And, they might protect your vehicle better in a crash, but they might not absorb impact as well as the stock bumpers.

Aside from that, I look at it as a couple thousand more dollars I could spend on things I really need.

This is just my preference, though. Opinions will vary.

Thats exactly what I'm looking for though, so thank you. I didn't factor in the impact absorption of the stock bumpers.
I was told by a repair shop worker that there are a LOT of pieces and parts to these areas now, like the radar, that make a fender bender more expensive than they used to be.
so would a happen compromise be the smaller steel bumpers that don't reach the corners? like this

    That's what I went with. ;)

I'm happy with it. You'll definitely get more deer protection with a good quality full bumper, though. If you're ok with the extra weight and $$, there are plenty of good looking options.

Yeah, the low profile bumpers aren't bad, especially if you don't add a winch. Looks good!

How far out from the original bumper line does this extend? looks like about 5 or 6 inches?
I like that look a lot though.

that was very nicely put together. I think at this point i'm going to wait as long as possible to put the heavier bumpers on my rig, until I can afford them more.
I appreciate the long thought out answer though, it definitely helps!

If Fox or King is in the budget, there is a lot we can offer you. We will take into consideration the total weight added and how you plan to use the vehicle most. We will recommend spring rates front and rear and custom tune the shocks accordingly. Some companies will offer heavier rate springs, but not change valving so you wont get the full potential out of the setup. Shock valving and springs should work together, especially for this big of an investment. Let us know if we can help

With all of the things you are planning to add you need a very good suspension IMO. Fox 2.5 or OME BP51. You also would need new bump stops, suggest you add the panhard bar correction since you are at it. Bud....you opened pandoras box here and that wallet will see it. Fun if you can do it all.
