What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

A Honda dealer ex detailer who moved up told me yrs ago when we ordered my wife's Accord EX to use match book matches. The end that gets torn out of pack. I've used that since vs the brush that comes W/OEM paint bottle touch up.

 

Yes, paper can be a good tool for larger spots, but it's a little less controlled. I also have model paint brushes (Testor Micro Sponges). With the diameter so small, I wanted something that was more controlled. Next time, I will take a toothpick, cut the tip off and use a metal file to clean up the end.

I also heated the touch up paint so that it would flow smoothly and lie down better.

 

So you can have fog lights on with any/all including HiBeam or no lights?

 

Installed the front Bilstein 5100 set to the 1.75 setting. I’ll make my own thread in regards to what my experience is….

Weather tech are worth their money! That is a 24 ounce miller lite floating. I know it’s early

 

I did mine at 1.75 a few days ago. Stiffer over potholes with more jostling, but also less dive and lean. I did not purchase rear shocks but will put the 1" cornfed spacers in soon so people can stop flashing their brights at me.

Suppose I need an alignment, especially since I used the "no spring compressor" method. Although, if I wear the stock Grapplers out I'll have the perfect excuse to upsize....

Anyway, today I popped on some nice AJT climate and radio knobs as the first step towards de-silvering the interior.

 

My 4R does not have KDSS. My install was 100% bolt on and no need to drill. I didn't even remove the front wheels to install these. It turned out to be a really easy process for me. I spent tons more time prepping for the project than the actual install. I really like the design and engineering that went into these. Saturday morn KDSS flexing, found some flat ground to speed up straightening out a little parking lean

 

Oh no! what happened? Was it not tightened hard enough? or did you get a defective one?

I've been looking at possibly getting one to reduce sag since I plan on getting a motorcycle carrier on the tow hitch.
It's either this or airbags. I like the simplicity of sumo springs compared to airbags but for my need I would need the black version and I'm wondering if it'll make the ride too stiff when the motorcycle carrier is not being used (which would be 99% of the time)

I did it using The Brite Box. I had it on my 2020 ORP. I took it off and put it on my 2022 ORP.

Sprayed the Corrosion Free jizz under the 4Runner today. Took only half an hour at the big box store in the hood.

 

I plasti dipped the center caps of my winter wheels. I like it a lot, we'll see how it holds up.

 

Removed the nerf bars, unfortunately one of the weld nuts came loose but the weight of the bar gave me enough drag to remove the bolt. Guess that will rattle around wherever it is in there forever.

 

Put an 18in Diode Dynamics lightbar in the upper grille; no more TRDBRO raptor lights.

Also, my Smittybilt compressor died this week, any rec's for a new one?

 

Finished rear suspension and trimmed the ugly rear mud flaps

 

Do you think the light bar pretty bright? I was planning on doing the same thing I did to my 20 AG. I added the bajadesigns 20 inch amber light bar. I kept the mounts from before. Just need the light. Lol.

 

Extended the rear diff breather. Routed the breather hose along the fuel filler pipe, leaving slack at the front for axle droop:



I don't have a good two-way breather on hand, so I made a loop with about 12" of hose and ziptied it to the fuel filler pipe running up inside the quarter panel. Will add a Uni Filter when it arrives.

If you get a chance slap a couple s.s. hose clamps on the bellows. I trusted the shops zip ties and this happened ↓

2200 miles later. CO->UT->NV->IDBR. Have to figure out my rear brake issue the next couple of weeks.

 

I think it's plenty bright, although not as bright as my buddy's 20in baja. I'm still playing around with the tilt angle but it does what I need. I plan on adding a 30in amber bar when I get a bumper.

I just did dinky stuff. Laid the power lines for my underseat lighting (pulled from a previous 4R) and put LEDs for the license plate. I needed light and I didn't want to scratch/scuff the rear gate... i used a food service glove to buffer it.


Oh, I also removed the Costco sheepskin seat cover for the driver's seat. I need to fine-tune the modifications needed for it to work with the electronically-controlled seat.

 

Oil change done and a cabin air filter. This is my first change since new (about a year), and it’s a different part (less pleats) from my local dealership (Ontario, Canada).

 

Toyota lists three compatible filters:
87139-50100
87139-52040
87139-YZZ82

Now, as I remember it the OEM from the factory in Japan part numbers never include "YZZ." I think it was The Car Care Nut Channel on YouTube that referenced it when talking about brakes or something a little more serious.

My gut feeling is that the most expensive one is the allergen protecting filter. I recently had to make that choice for my mini fleet of RAV4s.
