Noticed metal to metal drag sound from rear drum. Just had axle bearing seal and break job done recently. Disassembled and inspected and found where the noise originated. Now looking for cause? IMG_0224.jpgFullSizeRender.jpg

Pads are new, drums were turned, surface nice and smooth. The drag is between the outer groove on the drum and the inner flange of the plate the brake hardware mounts to. (See Photos) These parts nest inside each other but are not meant to touch. I've lost clearance. Not sure how? Thanks.

Have you reset your space between the drum and shoes when you crank that thread ( not sure what's it called)

Yes, that's what I first thought, that I had an issue between the drum and shoes. But when I inspected, I found the evidence of metal to metal between the drum and the non-rotating plate that all the brake components are mounted to. So best I can figure I've some how lost clearance. I was wondering if the recently installed bearing could have something to do with it, if it weren't pressed to the proper position on the shaft. Could this be where I lost my clearance?

The best I would I do is disassemble it, inspect the parts, lube whatever parts and reassemble it back again

    oh the list....!
I wonder if there might be one of two possibilities going on here. First, since the bearing seal was replaced, I am thinking that the c-clip that holds the axle on may not be fully seated in its recess. (This is bad) The c-clip might be slightly bent, which could be still holding the axle on.... (I'd check that NOW!!) Second, just to make sure something goofy isn't going on with the drum, I would compare the clearance with the other side's drum. C-clip yikes!!!

It looks like you have a wobble in the brake drum.
Is it on one side only?
I would make sure that the surfaces where the drum and the axle mate are thoroughly clean, and that the drum sits nice and flush when you slide it on the axle.
Also, be sure to torque your lug nuts in from side to side in a alternating sequence, and torque to specification.

    Hope this helps
