We had a rear end collision today in our 2019 4runner. We were stopped in traffic and a vehicle hit us going approx 60mph. The passenger head rest dislodged, causing my head to fall back and hit the hard plastic of a rear facing child protection seat. We had never removed the headrest. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hope you went via ambulance to the hospital and got checked out.

Hope you're ok and don't have future neck/back problems.

Many years ago, accident lawyer told me #1 mistake is not going to hospital in the ambulance, even if you feel ok.

Never heard of headrest flying out.

Welcome. That is really scary. The headrest locks in there and would need the button pushed to remove it.

At 60mph, stuff is going to break - hopefully not you.

Be sure to get checked out by a doctor, especially if you have headaches, vision issues, neck issues, etc.

How’s your collar bone on your left side?

I haven't heard of this happening before. It definitely shouldn't happen.

    Hopefully everyone is ok!

You said with the headrest flying out that you hit your head on a rear facing child seat? Sounds like the child safety seat could have forced the headrest up and out if it was that close
