Hmm.. Underground color looks like Matt Gray in comparison to MGM.
Introducing new colors in a 2024 last year of production doesn't instill confidence that a 6th Gen is round the corner.

Sounds like a desperation move for flagging sales. Just my 2c.

My local Toyota has over 20 used/certified 4runners currently unlike early 2021 ( they had non on the lot).

This reminds me of what Suzuki did with the Gen 2 Hayabusa. That model came out in 2008 and Suzuki did not replace it for another 13 years.
After the 7th or 8th year, hoping for a new model but all we got was BNG, brand new graphics year after year.

 

And how is that gen 2 hayabusa holding up today?

Basically I think it's time for a change because I don't like the slight cream/champagne to blizzard pearl . I haven't seen Windchill, but will be curious to see what color(s) are in it.

I saw a miata the other day in pearl white but that was too brilliant for me (like super/icecap with flake). So I like Toyota putting some color in their (white) flake paint and keeping the white, flat.

 

I like that Underground a lot. If I were buying a new Pro I might get that over Terra. I don't hate Terra, but it's probably my least favorite Pro color, only because I generally like all the Pro colors.

 

Don't be surprised if Toyota drags this body style out another 2-3 years.

 

In one word, brilliant. I ve had it for 13 years now. Custom maps, de restricted, full titanium exhausts, brembos etc. No electronic aids, not even abs. Your right wrist and testicular fortitude controls everything.
Of course the industry has moved on, and pretty much every 1000cc is faster.
But there is something special about the fat Gixxer.

 

When can I order a 2024 TRD Off-road in solar octane and when do you think it’d be delivered?

 

I saw a guy on Reddit say he put in a reservation for a 24' 4Runner at his local dealership already. Said it was $500 to reserve. Have no idea if this is legit or not as the 2024 configurator isn't even up yet. I'm going to call this week and find out.

 

All these cool colors, but classic silver is by far the best IMO. I wish mine was silver, but lunar rock ain’t too bad either. It will be interesting seeing more solar octane out on the road. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one without the TRD Pro wheels…

 

So Underground just to confirm again is not metallic? It sort of looks like a darker version of the cement in pics to me anyway.

I wonder if that would require more polish/wax if it’s not metallic to protect from sun etc. I am thinking about the flat reds on other vehicles like a mustang that seemed to fade quicker. They look great but need a lot of tlc.

I’m looking forward to seeing this on the 4R itself. It’s so hard to envision when looking at a Corolla

 

I asked a local dealer last week and they said they’re not in production yet so they won’t take orders. Same thing with the 24 Tacoma. Of course, each dealer makes their own choices about that. I’m sure some dealers are willing to take money for a spot in line

 

Correct, it's non metallic. But from what I hear, it does change color a bit in the sun. But I'm with you, I need to see it first on the 4Runner or Tacoma before I make a decision.

 

you’re incorrect.. it is not a “matte” paint color. it is a gloss color with no metallic flakes embedded.

 

gloss colors and metallic colors both have their ups and downs.

 

I for one, am sick of seeing all the "shades of gray" from the various auto makers. I think during the pandemic they took the cheapest route possible by offering (the vast majority) in: White, Black, Silver or 4 shades of Gray.

I want to see more blues (Bring VooDoo back!!), reds and specialty colors like purple, gold, deep browns or greens.

 

I was really hoping for Calgary Blue for 24' One of my favorites.

That is correct, Underground will be replacing MGM.

 

I'm going to have to stop at a dealership and see what it looks like in person. My '03 was "phantom gray pearl" (I think that was the name) and it was probably the predecessor to MGM. It was a cool color, that strangely looked better on overcast days. I wonder if the new color will be similar.
