Hello everyone! I feel this is the appropriate place to inquire about selling my 4 Runner. 2006 Limited V8.
215000 miles. Runs great with a few cosmetic blemishes.
I know the BB value is null, but possibly there is value to a group of 4 runner aficionados. I LOVE my baby 4runner but I am not capable of the long term maintenance and care.
Any advice or information would be helpful.

Welcome. Start with a Carmax offer then take a look at what other 4Runners, similar to your 4Runner, are selling for in your market.

I would go private party for the sale. The V8’s seem to command a premium, at least where I live. I did a good amount of research when I bought my parents 4Runner to come up with a price and a lot of what I saw, even with over 200k miles, was up near the $10k range and only went higher the lower the mileage - all depending on condition of course.

Welcome from Wisconsin! Put a price on it that you feel comfortable selling it at. What seems like a rip-off to one person may seem like a deal to another. If you're in an area where there are few 4Runners, you may get more than you would think, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Definitely go for the private sale though. Be prepared for people 'kicking the tires', it's part of the game.

    I have 2005 SR5 V6 4WD, 203K miles. I'm the only owner. All its 18+ years it was a garage boy.
This summer I've bought 2023 limited 4WD. When I tried to trade in my old SR5, the dealer said that my SR5 costs $1,000.00. Yes, one thousand. I said thank you, no.
Then I went to carmax. The report says (a) everything is good (b) some stains on the seats (c) it's likely that the odometer has been rolled down. Verdict - $1,000.00 (one thousand).
    So it's not that simple.

Lots with more in the works
If you're the only owner, how do they even think that the odo has been rolled back?? That's just insulting.

Sell it private party, ask $10k. List it on craigslist and Facebook Market Place. It should sell fairly quick at that price.

Are you saying they offered you 1,000 trade in when you say it cost 1,000?

In case you're not aware, the V8 is sought after and commands a premium.

I'd check Marketplace and see what they're going for in your area. Personally, if the frame is in good condition, I think you should be able to get 8-10k on the high end, at least from what I see with pricing in my area.

No dealer is going to give you much for it due to the age.

Yes, 1,000 trade-in is how the dealer priced my old 4R.

Any vehicle over 100,000 miles on it they wholesale it. Anything less in excellent condition they have a used car division, but 1,000 is robbery. It's worth More like 10,000.

Location and research. Beware of condition items. I have purcahsed two 4thGens in the last year 2004 and 2007, both V8 and clean and both top dollar +/- $15,000. In the coastal area of Texas it is hard to find a clean 4wd V8 and some have come from the rust belt. There is strong demand for 4wdV8s and have been told many purchasers come from out of state. Miramar Motorsports in San Diego CA specializes in used 4Runners and Lexus gx470s. (Great website with asking prices and auto details/photos). With some upgrades these autos seem to run from $21,000 to +$30,000. Frame rust and other condition issues can kill the price. I agree that selling onthe private market is the best but you might also consider consignment at reputable specialty car lot.
    Good Luck..

If your frame is clean (no or minimal rust), your 4WD works in all modes, and it’s a V8, that’s about as close to a unicorn as exists in the 4th Gen world.
