    IMG_5731.png If I have a 2004 V8 4Runner, does anyone know which steering rack I need?

toyotapartsdeal says both fit my vehicle when I put in all its information. I dont really want to spend $900 on one, but the $600 is a little better. I’ve also read remanufactured ones from CVJ are good too and cheaper. Thoughts?

Are you using your VIN to look up the parts?

My 2003, using my VIN to search, pulls up the 44200-35061 steering rack. I'm betting yours should be the same.

Good call, I’ll plug in my VIN and see. But good to know yours was the ‘cheaper’ one. Hopefully I get lucky and mines that one as well.

Yeah, I think that rack is good for 03-05.

@xtremewlr have you heard anything about the 5th gen/460 rack working in the 4th gen/470s?
I've seen a few mention it here and there on fb, and got the impression it was an upgrade. Nothing factual yet, still looking into it.

I think I've seen mentions before but not much.

There's always the Tundra rack swap. Or take a look at the JDFab Slide Rack. It does require using a 2nd gen Tacoma rack tho. - https://jdfabrication.com/collectio.../copy-of-2005-2015-tacoma-steering-slide-rack

Marlin Crawler also has the Marrack but it looks like that only works with their RCLT kit - https://www.marlincrawler.com/suspension/rclt/rclt-hd?qt-Product=1#200rack

Just keep in mind that whatever rack you go with is probably going to require some fab work to get it to fit and work right.

I picked up my OEM rack for just under $700 as a point of reference.

    @xtremewlr
I went through the LC 200 (Marrack) attempt. It fit right in there with some motor mount spacers. Had it bolted up and cycling, but the bump steer was pretty bad w the LT, so I scrapped that idea. You can't modify it because the ram is hollow on LC 200.
I do have a used Tundra rack I'll have Travis "Basikbiker" on TW work his magic on one day down the road. Him and his Father modify them.
It's basically the same thing as a JD Tundra rack but a little cheaper.

I was asking about the 5th gen rack because we have a crap load of salvage yards in this state and I can source a used one in an emergency.
I don't see why they wouldn't work though. Whether or not it's an upgrade remains to be seen.

Just stumbled on this Toyo Steering modified Tundra rack. Another option if OEM prices get outta control.

Steering rack upgrades aren't something I have really looked into yet since my truck is basically stock with just fancy shocks. Hope to change that sometime soon tho.
