Only for those running 285-70-17s, does a spare that same size fit under the truck?

Looking at SCS Blaze 10s and if the spare will fit. Appreciate your experience.

I have Cooper discoverer rugged treks on stock OR wheels and mine fit but it was really close. The guy who did my lift and tires told me it wouldn't fit and I asked him to try.

It fit but just barely and pretty sure the track bar was rubbing (I think that's what it was, I'd have to crawl back under to take a look). I do have KDSS if that matters and the tire was overinflated, which didn't help.

Everything I've read said it fits and can confirm - it's just tight

We are running a 285/70r17 Nitto Ridge Grappler on the stock spare wheel. Fits, no problem.

seems like the key is the stock spare wheel vs a matching aftermarket one

I have a 285/70/17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT mounted on a stock OR Premium wheel. Guy who did my lift also mentioned that it just fit.

I think the Baja boss and rugged trek both run a bit large for a 285/70 if I'm remembering my research.

That's something else to consider, not all tires are the same size. But seems even the larger ones still fit. Think you're fine

Think it would still fit on a wider rim? 17x8.5 vs stock?

My knee jerk reaction wants to say, if anything, a wider wheel would stretch it smaller in diameter and wider in width so if anything would fit easier but hang down a bit more.

I have no experience with wider wheels though

I had FNWheels with 285s and they fit hung lower so you could see it from the rear but no big deal.

It works with full air but I lowered the tire pressure down to 15 not a huge difference but when i tried to drop the tire, it was easier when pushed up against the 2” tow hitch (just my experience). However i have a carry an air compressor so it would be easy to fill once it drops from the back.

I have a 285/70R17 BFG KO2 mounted on the factory steel wheel under there, and it clears...even with KDSS + KDSS Rear Spacers (Treaty Oak).
