So I contacted a company doing the wash and ceramic coating, they said it needs to be with them for 2 to 3 days...

    Is that the norm?

Yes sir, it has to fully cure before it gets wet. Same for me when I had mine done.

    Thank you,

Does it really help when you wash the vehicle? Like dirt easily wipes out?

No, it can be done in one day. They may have other jobs in front of yours. I'd ask them if you can schedule and pick up the same day.

It will really depend on what they are doing for the process. If you're just washing and ceramic coating first thing in the morning, then you should be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If they are doing a paint correction before the ceramic coating, then it will be a 2-3 day process. Also, it will depend on your detailer, how busy they are, and how large their staff is.

I had my Taco done and it only took a day. My boss just had his C8, ZL1, Roadrunner and Duster done and it was just one day. I'd imagine it is just the shop giving themselves a buffer to get things done.

I loved my ceramic coating. Made it so easy to clean and looked great. Only real downside was it can be a bit of a PITA if you do not have your own garage or driveway where you can hand wash it. You have to be a bit careful what types of soaps/detergents are used.

You also need to maintain ceramic coating. This was not explained well to me by the shop and it kept losing its hydrophobic properties over time. I was able to correct this though after a bit of research and talking to those in the industry.

Like stated above this can be done in one day but may have other vehicles in front of yours. I would highly highly highly recommend at least a stage one paint correction at a minimum before they apply ceramic coating. Otherwise, all your inperfections will be sealed in. Remember there are different levels for both ceramic coating and paint correction. Best investment ever along with PPF applied over.

Better off dropping it off if they are a good place reviews let them take their time. The place I’m going with will have my 4runner pro for a week. When my C7 Z06 was done it was a week. But just for ceramic coat it should be no more than 2 days.

Is ceramic coating really worth it? My understanding its anywhere from 1-2k if im not mistaken. I have been considering it for my 23 Lunar Rock

Yes, it's worth it's weight in gold if applied correctly and depending who is completing the job. Materials and a professional detailer are a must for this.

More often than not though people forget that they should be getting a paint correction done prior to the coating being applied otherwise we have a big issue with paint imperfections.

Ceramic coating does very little when it comes to paint protection because people don't understand the product. Ceramic coating is UV protection not PPF. Also, it makes it 100 times easier to clean.

New car one day in and out.

If they gotta do other shit 2 - 3 days I wouldn't say is excessive.

It is well worth it as long as it is done correctly. There is lots of garbage products out there such as the "Ceramic coating" offered by the dealership.

Find a reputable detailer and have them do it. I would do a full decontamination wash and clay bar, followed by a 2-stage paint correction, and then ceramic coating it. Just remember that ceramic coatings require upkeep and special wash instructions. It's not a set-it-and-forget-it product.

If it were my car, I would spend the money on a good hydrophobic PPF after a paint correction has been done.

Taco - I didn't know you were in the Phoenix area. I highly recommend Detail Boss in Scottsdale. They are 2 brothers that own the company and work on vehicles like ours up to some super expensive cars. Check them out as they are very reasonable for their work and only allow so many vehicles to be done in 1 day depending on job. If your vehicle requires more than one day then they keep vehicles inside their facility. They have different levels of ceramic coating and paint correction if you need it. They are also an authorized install for Xpel PPF (which takes a lot of training because Xpel is very picky who they choose to represent their products).
