So, I've started the process of rebuilding my 2nd gen 3VZE, automatic, 4x4 runner. I love the car and I can sleep in it! something I can't do in most cars because of my height. I'm starting this thread to post pictures, keep track of the process, and hopefully get insigth from others who have dabbled down this road.

MY GOAL: is to have a solid engine that I can use to travel. I've walways wanted to make it from alaska to Patagonia (12k miles or so). I want my wheels to be solid and reliable, but also fun!

CURRENT STATE: Engine is out, and at the machinist. Waiting to hear on condition of the engine. I know it's rebuildable, but In the meantime:

    1. Can anyone recommend a good place to get OEM parts besides dealer?
    2. Any advice anyone can provide? like things to replace while the engine is out, and weird things to consider during the process? I'm going to do the regular replacement like water pump, timing conponents, motor mounts, camshaft components where needed
