1500 bucks for TRD Pro Grill and TRD Pro roofrack. That includes 3 hours of labor.

Hmmmm... in that case, I've got some nice beachfront property for sale in Arizona.

There are much better racks available than the pro. Grille is personal choice - I know the OEM pro is expensive

And you are right. The parts guy was clueless. The Service guy asked for more parts and now we are at $2,500. Not worth it now.

If I were going to spend big money on a rack, I'd want something lower-profile that opens up lots of possibilities. Despite the wait, Gobi would be near the top of my list.

Can't see exactly what the parts break down is for that list. I looked at pro grill for a while but OEM was something stupid like 600-800. You could install that yourself. Aftermarket seemed hit or miss on quality but waaaay cheaper.

As for the rack, you could probably buy a take off. From the threads I've read a lot of people don't like them and replace them

I changed my mind about the grill. And for the rack, I will get a cheaper one online and my local body shop would set it up for 100 bucks.

Agree. I have a Gobi and waited over a year for it (although I opted to delay shipment by 3 months for 15% retroactive black Friday discount).

If I had to do it over again I'd look closer at even lower profile flat racks. Thought I wanted a basket at the time but think a flat rack would have worked fine for less cost. Can't argue with the quality or functionality of the Gobi though

If you're getting the pro rack still, you could do that yourself too and save money if you don't mind spending the time.

I installed my Gobi by myself, but did get a neighbor to help me lift the basket on once I had brackets set so that I didn't scratch or damage anything. Took me most of the day but I spent A LOT of time cleaning up the area where the OEM unbolted. Did a lot of cleaning and then used touchup paint to cover the areas that had rubbed bare

They aren't cheap, and you wait forever to get them if ordering new from factory (vs buying 2nd hand).

What you get for that time in money is a really high quality product that is very functional.

As I said though, I think one of the cheaper flat racks (which can be purchased in aluminum) would have served my purposes almost as well for half the cost

$700 of that is the Pro rack. The rest are grill parts, and recaliberation of the sensor is also required.

If you just want to blackout the grill, you could get an overlay. That's what I did and got a red overlay for the sombrero

I like my Sherpa rack, installed myself, and I’m not very mechanical. I like the flat versus the basket, as I plan to get a RTT, and also figured flat was more versatile.

interesting thing about the sensor recalibration. i’m unable to accept the necessity since the actual installation of the heritage grill doesn’t involve removing or repositioning the tss sensor.

the roof rack is another story. the form and function isn’t my most favorite toyota design.

I meant to comment on this earlier as well. I don't have the sensor but thought it was mounted on the lower part of the mesh grill so don't know why it would require recalibration unless you knocked the shit out of it on install

Yeah probably doesn't need to be recalibrated. Just trying to squeeze more money.

+1 for gobi, but depends on what you're using it for of course.

The pro rack looks like a receding hairline is about as useful as one.

The trd grill takes all of 30 minutes to install

    Way too much for that!

Seems like you can find used Pro racks for $250.

Good used Pro racks are about $400 around here, overlays with letters are around $200. The quote you got was gouging.
