    Hello party people
I have been having an issue with the door ajar light it says that I have a door open but all door are closed, I've checked and replaced the door switches so I'm curious if it is the hatch or if it's some other wiring issue

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
I would check for broken wires where the wiring bundle transitions from the door to the body. Given the amount of flex at that point, chances are, if any wires are broken, it'll be there. You'll most likely have to open the bundle up and examine the wires visually. You can also ohm out the wires going from the door switch to wherever they go. That's a quick, easy way to look for a broken wire.

Does the "door open" indicator light show you which door appears to be open? I refuse to us the word "ajar". The door isn't a jar, it's a door! Anywho, if the indicator shows which door appears open, that narrows the possibilities down pretty fast. If the switches are new, and adjusted properly, you can pretty much eliminate them, and focus on the wiring.

    Good luck!

On 3rd gens it's just an idiot light. No way to know which door\hatch.

Regardless, it won't be in the flex harness at the doors. The doors are detected via plunger style switches in the body.

The HATCH is a different story. I think that may be in the latch as I couldn't find a plunger switch on the body. If that is the case, then the hatch wiring between the body and hatch which flexes is indeed most likely the issue.

I would focus on the hatch first.

B18 (back door ECU) is in the hatch. B16 (Body ECU) is under your dash. TOYOTA calls your hatch a back door. The other doors are front doors and rear doors.

The VIOLET wire with WHITE stripe is probably broken in the harness at the top of your hatch where it transitions between the hatch and body. This diagram is taken from the 2002 4Runner service manual.

It may be the hatch latch itself. (B9)

Otherwise, you'll probably have to check the front and rear door plunger switches.

Is there any way to remove one of these sensors and just slap a resistor in it to trick the computer so I can move on with my life lol
