Have a 2019 Limited and wish to install a remote starter. I'm considering a Viper LED Two-Way. Looking for opinions on remote starter

You should specify what you need from a remote start.

    Do you need...

    -Integrated into factory key fob?
    -Professional or Self Install?
    -Activation from extended distances?
    -Phone connectivity?
    -Security Features?

People are just going to tell you what they have without knowing your specific needs if you do not specify.

I for example have the 12voltsolutions remote start. Able to be installed in about 30 minutes by an amature, Integrated into factory key, and works from about 100 feet.

I require professional install. I have a couple optins to go for installation. They both carry various Viper models
Remote start from extended distance with lock functions to leave the truck running when I go inside a building
    Don't require phone connectivity
    Security is optional

Here is the 12voltsolutions for your vehicle, looks like they're sold out for the extended for the time being unfortunately.

Not swaying you from the Viper, just don't have any experience with that and do with the 12voltsolutions and have been very happy with it.

Their remote start doesn't care if the door is open or closed which is nice.

If you have absolutely no desire to install yourself, you may be stuck with whatever your installer will install, which may be Viper. Amazon reviews seems to like Viper.

Aftermarket remote start success rates are about 50/50 on this forum. Do your homework.

Have the Toyota OEM VIP remote start kit installed.
Press lock 3 times to start, and unlock once to shut down. Has performed without any issues and is straightforward to use. Uses the OEM fob.

Go with the OEM unit. It should live a trouble-free life. Aftermarket units tend to not work perfectly.

For your keyed vehicle that is true. I have not seen any remote starts that let the Limited (or newer other trims with keyless start) stay running when doors are opened. That would be a huge security flaw since you can drive the keyless start versions without a key fob in the vehicle

Solid point, I was not aware of the keyed vs push to start difference

Do you have a link for the Toyota OEM Remote start kit? I too have the exact same 4R as OP.

I like the idea of OEM and have considered it but I also want to know how much of a pain it is to install. Its also double the cost of an aftermarket one....

I was looking at this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083CP8514/?coliid=I2C47X44WJ2JDH&colid=223AYARI3F1LK

Has anyone replaced their factory remote start that kills the engine when you open the door?

someone told me they all do that. I don’t believe it

Not all, only push button start. THe "G Key" (physical key) will stay on. I can attest to that physical key will stay on.

Even on our push button start Lexus, it shuts off when door is opened.

You want it to cut off when the door is opened. If someone breaks your window, they could steal your cruiser. Nobody wants that.

Umm, you still need the key in the ignition to go anywhere.
