Installed aftermarket oil seals on rear differential. Not a hard job and fairly simple. But I now have small leak again in under 200 miles of driving vehicle since install. I have a OEM seal to reinstall , as well will be doing the bearing and all items pressed on the rear axle. Has anyone had issues with aftermarket seals not fitting the bill? Are there any tricks folks have found that makes this job one and done? New to The Forum so not sure if this thread has been posted elsewhere. Thank you in advance

make sure you grease up the rubber part of the seal before you reassemble as that can cause a leak. I have Marlin Crawler seals on mine and have had no issues. Also don't forget the rubber o ring on the end of the axle housing

Thx for info. Yes replaced larger O-ring, as well as oil seal. Did put grease on contact surface where seal meets axel too. My thought Is that maybe with 260k on axel that area where seal rides is just worn enough to not allow seal to have good seat. I guess in hind sight it will all be new materials as we will now have new bearing and keeper, (spacer) on axel . Plus another new OEM seal. Realized wheel bearing compromised by gear oil from old leaking seal, so will throw more parts at it so it's a good thru n thru repair.
Really can't just fix seal alone as failure of wheel bearing is in future as sealed bearing was contaminated by gear oil. Not really sure how many miles on old bearing anyway. The fun of getting good used items.

Get the Marlin crawler seals. They moved where the seal rides so it will sit on a fresh part of the axle
