Looking at some k02s on fb marketplace. $550 for a set of 275/70/17s with 7k miles on it.
Is this a good deal for the miles on them? I appreciate the feedback

I got brand new ones for $1,200 from Discount Tires, taxes and installation included. I signed up for their Visa credit card, and interest free payment plan of 9 months. Used tires are not worth it, you don't know what the guy did with them. 7k miles on KO2s are rough miles.

At 7k miles they should have just passed their first scheduled rotation so I doubt there would be a lot of wear and tear due to neglect (cupping, inside/outside wear).

I would try to have a look at them in person though, pictures don't always show everything you're looking for

They look great. The threads are like new. Inspect them closely for any other issues like flat patched etc, otherwise you are good to go

be cautious about used tires. tires are a big factor in the safety of you and others. a lot of times marketplace tires are bait and switch moves by used tire shops to get you to show up. $550 for 275s at 7k miles is dirt cheap. almost too cheap.

check date codes if you inspect in person. date codes shouldn’t be more than 2 years at that mileage and preferably within reasonable range between all four tires. look for patches or plugs.

Hope Load E ride comfort is not a concern? This is the reason I sold mine. All 275/70/17 KO2 are Load E.

They may have been disposed because of balancing Issues.

That would be my fear. My father in law fought with balancing issues with multiple sets of K02's.

Make sure to check the side wall for the manufacture date. The format would look like (3523) if they were made today. First two digits are the week and last two digits are the year. I have seen sold old tires in good condition being sold online.

I see quite a few used 'new' tires for sale. Most reasons seem to be the loudness / balance problems with their vehicle. So they ditch 'em for something else.

    Those look nice.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Have you inspected them thoroughly for plugs or inside patches?
You will still have to pay for balancing and mounting.
    No warranty?

Regardless the tire OP purchased, better use a proper tire shop for mounting and road force balance. Else will join the "balancing Issues" club :p

As others have said, check manufacturing date to make sure they aren't near end of life. I'd also check for patches, plugs, sidewall damage (cuts and gouges), and make sure there are no tread blocks broken off

anyone know how to ship used tires if selling? I have 3 Pirelli Run Flats I took off my wife's Mercedes GLC300 - only had 7k miles on them. the Run flats are 300+ for single tire. I've tried to sell all 3 for like 200.00 but can't figure out the shipping on them. I have last alignment paperwork too.

The one time I shipped a set of tires, UPS just put a heavy duty shipping sticker right on the tire tread surface and that was it.

I stuck my head in a Costco Tire Center and the 4Runner-owning lady tire center worker told me that they had KO2s available through Costco online.

I never checked because I'm looking more for it an asphalt tire, might be worth a look. Do they come as stock for any company out there? It might be worth looking for dealership take offs. For example, I got my Bridgestone as Toyota Port take offs that are distributed through the dealers. Decent savings that also qualified for the Bridgestone rebate.

Be sure to check the date code also. Dont wanna be getting some 5-7 year old tires with decent tread life.

    Rock on.

Shipping will most likely exceed your asking price so it may be a hard sell.

    I'd pass on them.

Even as a regular tire, many complain about how they handle on wet roads.

    This is very true.

That's where Facebook marketplace, Craigslist or enthusiast groups in the area would be a great resource for selling stuff like that.

How they get shipped by UPS from a distributor to my Costco is a shrink wrap spiral around the tire with the final turns doing a criss-cross pattern over the whole thing.

I worked at a tire ship for three years in college. Balanced tires for thousands of cars. Balance wouldn't have a anything to do with it.

OP you want to look at the tred from an angle and see if you can see weird wear. You cant tell from a picture directly at the tred like that. It probably couldn't be too bad if it's only got 7k miles.

I'd ask the depth. Look up what the new depth should be to estimate the life.

    And then I'd offer 400.

Edit: I'd also inspect the inside real good. Gently and slowly run with fan all along the inside feeling for anything especially on the sidewall because that can't be plugged.

when I was young and broke, I use to buy used tires. it mite be a good deal but tires are very important. if you buy new, you get warranty, , flat repair, peace of mind. best of luck.
