If that’s the case I will leaning towards the talon’s until I can find more assurance. My 23 is not in yet but want to order these now.

Well that’s good too hear. I like the price much better on these. Had the Valhalla plates on my 21 tundra pro. Are they giving you the longer bolts also?

The one plus about the CR cat shields that would make having to modify them worth doing (if necessary) would be the ability to service the drive shaft, transmission, & transfer case without having to remove the shields. IMO. Well, that and the price...

Well I contacted Cali before they opened this morning on the chat screen. Already had someone get back to me and he said everything has been taken care of with no rattling or rubbing with the plates. He did say they did have issues a few months ago.

I installed mine about 1 week ago and have ZERO rattle. It looks to me like CaliRaised revised some components of the design based on historical pictures. Not sure if this solved the rattle but my shields do not touch my cat.

The post above confirms that they have made some changes to avoid rattling!

Thanks Brandt, I confirmed it today with Cali they said they made both changes with the rattle and the bolts.

Sure would like to know *exactly* what changes they made. To both the driver's side shield and the fastener package. I think they owe that to us.

we installed the shields this morning before we opened i can confirm that everything fit perfectly with no modifications. The drivers side shield is about 3/8 of an inch clear of the cat. No noises or rattles over speed bumps - we have plenty of them, all different types in our parking lot. I work at a car dealership, it took one of my technicians between 15-20 minutes

I contacted them today and point blank asked about the hardware and vibration. The guy that answered the phone said they were aware of the complaints and post like this. He said the hardware has been updated so I would not have to purchase different bolts and they changed the shape slightly to keep it from vibrating. He also made it sound like they will have Labor Day sale next week.

I drove my 4Runner over to their SoCal location back in late June after running them for about 35 days and I was told that there will continue to be "some" vibration and noise just because of the design. Specially at slow speeds and shifting to drive. They offered to take them back. But, I decided to keep them on because I really like them. Unfortunately the noise got worst and Rainyben45 post was the catalyst for me throwing in the towel.

I don't want to have to remove them to add spacers, longer bolts and trim them.

I have Cat Security shields. Anyway, not to be a spoil sport, someone on Nextdoor posted yesterday that the thieves who found cars with security shields smashed windows in those cars apparently as revenge for foiling their theft intentions. Can't win these days.

Did you mean allen head machine screws. That's what the west marine that is located in our area has and allen head cap screws. [IMG][IMG]

Personal preference, but I'd get the button heads. Nothing for vice grips to get ahold of.

I would suggest buying regular grade 8 bolts over the SS ones. Based on my experiences with cat thieves, you are making it easier for them by using the allen head SS bolts. Just my 0.02..

Did you get them yet? I would like a picture of them or are the ones from Amazon the correct bolts?

Can you elaborate more on what you just said. Is it that easy for them to override the allen type button bolts if so what do you recommend ?

A drill and a sharp bit will zip off the head of a SS bolt in seconds. Stainless hardware is soft and the not only do the allen type lack "meat" on the bolt head, they also have a convenient pilot hole to keep the bit centered. Drill off the heads, bend the shield down, cut out the converters.. Bet they could have both out in under a minute.

When they hit our work trucks they show up with two tools depending on what they are after, a Sawzall and/or a drill. I've yet to see any of them carrying anything other than that as the name of the game is speed. They destroy whatever they need to and get out as fast as possible.

In the end, if they want it they will get it no matter what hardware you use. The goal is to inconvenience them just enough they move on to the next vehicle and just having the shields in place accomplishes that goal IMO. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy special bolts, the factory ones work just fine or if you need longer you can get some grade 8 replacements at any big box store. At least then they would need to be smart enough to bring metric sockets. :)

I received the box last night. It looks like a rat chewed through the hardware package as I was missing 2 security bolts, 1 washer for the security bolt and 1 of the long bolts the threads were messed up I couldn't even get the nut started on that one. I left them a message through the chat and got an automated response that they would be open on Monday morning. I am wondering if this is a mom and pop operation as this is still a problem. The only good thing is the 2 security bolts that I did get are longer than 40mm as I checked it with a regular 40mm bolt that I got from the hardware store.
